Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

My vtech 1010t has two handsets, but only one will work, the other just keeps 'searching'. They are brand new. The place i got them said to place the hndset on the main base for a couple of mins but that changed nothing. I tried removeing all batteries and starting again, but to no avail. Hopefully some one knows something that can help me. Thanks BAZ

SOURCE: Handset can't find base.

I just got a 3rd handset for the same phone system and were having the same error message,,, the at&t help line does not know what it is,.,. We returned it once and got another one because of the same problems, and were still having it.. AT & T help line said to return it again and try another one .. then he actually said to replace the whole phone system .. thats easier said than done! we paid 199 plus tax on the system and then another 81.00 for the third handset!

SOURCE: VTech 5.8 mhz won't work

I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!

• Unplug the base unit’s electrical power and remove the battery from the handset. Wait for 15 seconds then plug in the battery place the handset in the base unit and plug in the power. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset and base to synchronize

not a guarantee, something to try

SOURCE: i want to add an additional handset to my vtech phone...the new handset is "searching for base" and requests a 15-digit number which is suppose to be on the base--there is no 15-digit number to input.

The 15 digit number shoudl be on a sticker on the bottom of the base unit.

Bought a used vtech 5.8 phone, charged the battery and now see message "not registered. I can not make calls... how do I register it?

I believe it is telling you it is not registered with the Base Unit. You did get the Base Unit with it didn't you, otherwise you have a paperweight.

If you do have a set then this is the answer

Tip 1 of 1
Step 1: Place the handset in the base or charger. If PRESS FIND HS 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and recradle it in the base or charger.

Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for approximately four seconds. Release FIND HANDSET once the IN USE light comes on.

After a while, the handset will emit a series of tones, and the newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset when successfully registered. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to the telephone base within two minutes.

LI misplaced my handset How does the "locate

The locate handset button will make the missing handset ring for 60 seconds. This will usually give you time to find it (assuming the handset battery is good, the handset is not out of range, and/or the handset ringer isn't set to OFF). Once you have the handset, press the Page/Handset Locator button or place the handset on the base.

You can press the locate handset button again if you haven't found the handset in one minute. The manual for the Vtech 2451 is available from Retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Vtech-t2451-Telephones-manual/id/470ag516/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to download the pdf.

I hope this helps.

(If you have a large area or several floors to check, those 1 minute intervals aren't enough time to search for one person. Enlist assistance if you suspect the missing phone isn't just under a throw or pillow near the couch (for example).)

Hi there, Your new phones will not interact with a base station from another brand of phones. If you want to use one base station, you can buy single phones of the same model and brand and those will interact with the original base station.
