I have the same tv as you with the same problem. I'm sorry I have no solution for you but I can tell you that it will keep happening over and over and over again. We have had ours for just about 3 years now and have had to replace the lamp 6 times (it does the same thing to us, sound but no picture and then turns itself off) you can try to push the system reset button on the front panel of your tv but most likely that won't work. We have also replaced the fan and the light fixture twice. Best Buy (where we bought the tv) has now spent double what we originally spent on it just to "fix" it. I would recommend fixing the bulb and selling it as quick as you can unless you want to spend over $1000 a year on maintenance. We know 2 other people with the same tv just a smaller size and they have both had the same problems we are having. This model obviously has a major problem but neither Mitsubishi or Best Buy want to do anything about it other than temporarily fix it until my warranty wares out. Get out while you can is my advice to you.

Likely a bad lamp. It is customer replaceable. Instructions are in your manual. Pull out the lamp and check to see if its shattered or bulged. If so, order a new one. Mits TVs do poorly with generic lamps, so an OEM lamp is recommended.

If you have repeat lamp failures, make sure that the lamp is getting adequate air flow, some of them have a screen that will clog up on the lamp housing, others have an actual filter that should be cleaned yearly and/or when you change the lamp. Also, mitsubishi's do seem to have more failure than other brands, and they are really bad when you use generic (not same brand as original - philips, osram, etc - look on the backside of actual bulb) lamps... get the OEM ones for a longer fix, but yeah, they do fail a lot. I've seen some generics only last like 4 months and then they wont fire anymore. It could be a bad ballast over firing the lamp, but thats really really hard to check.. If it were my tv, I would try to "mod" it to get more airflow and keep that lamp really cool.. upgrade the fans, add more fans, or more airflow openings. Best of luck

I just had my bulb blow I am a 52 year young woman and was able to remove the bulb and order another one. No issues if it gives me the same amount of time the last one did I can't complain. Air flow is good just has lots of hours on it. My suggestion is to blow it out before replacing the bulb to get all the dust off the fan and make sure your fan is working properly if not replace it's not that hard.

I also unplugged from the wall, and did the reset procedure. That worked a few times and then it didn't work anymore. Thanks for the help, just wanted to warn it may only work temporarily.

This model is prone to a lot of problems to the point where a year or so ago they offered a chassis replacement on an exchange basis.

I would with rear cover removed try to localize first where the sound or buzz is coming from: The ballast? the Light engine? The power supply?

I can help but as I said this model has a LOT of chronic problems.

TV has gone into "protect mode" to do just that to protect against the damaging failure that has been detected, you will need a servicer to diagnose the failure. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Green power light comes on for a split second, then red.

The power supply (AC adapter) is bad. It has enough power to light the red LED, but not enough to power the TV.http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=12+volt+5+amp+power+supply&_sacat=See-All-Categories

My xbox 360 has no picture but sound only no red lights green ok

First take off my hard drive on the 360. Then plug it to the tv not with HDTV (use the red, yellow and white make sure it is on tv not HDTV) because it will not work for HDTV setting . then plugit into the wall with the 360 laying down not up and down and turned it on. (no picture but sound) with the 360 on take 1 towel fold it long ways and wraped it around 360 from back to front (make sure you cover the fans in the back to make it over heat.) leave your 360 on until it red rings (you can hear the 360 quit down. it takes about 15-30 mins depending on how fast it over heats. once this happens unwrap the 360 and turn it off wait 5 secs and power it back on and there you go you should have picture and sound again. if you still have problem you can now can send it to get repaired since there is a 3 year warrenty for red ringed 360's.
