How to edit Media Center Recordings

Easiest FREE way I've found to edit Recordings made in Windows Media Center is done using Windows Live Movie Maker (Part of the Windows Live Essentials Free Downloads)
I have found that there is some technique involved in making successful edits of the recording.
  1. Open the recording you want to edit in Movie Maker, click save and name the save file what you wish (This file just stores your edit markers and makes no changes to the original recording)
  2. Since most recordings have some overlap, you first need to find the actual beginning and end of the recording, under tools, mark the start and end points using the buttons labeled as such. Click SAVE
  3. Editing the commercials is done in a similiar manner. Browse thru the recording to the start point of the commercial, under tools, click the SPLIT button, then browse to the end of the commercial segment, click split again. (This separates a the commercial portion from the rest of the recording) Right click the commercial segment, Click Delete on the drop down menu and that commercial is deleted (Note the run time is adjusted to the removal point) Click save and repeat on all other commercials.
  4. Once editing is complete, you should have about 22 minutes for a half hour show or 43 minutes for an hour show. Click Save
  5. Here is where I drove myself crazy till I learned the trick. Once edits are saved, CLOSE movie Maker. I don't know exactly why, but I spent a week learning that no matter what I did, 90% of the time when I tried to create movie, movie maker would LOCK UP. Trial and error eventually proved that if I made my edits, then Saved and closed Movie Maker. The re-opened Movie Maker and opened the edit file, that I could then Create Movie successfully every attempt. Click File, Create Movie, and choose your format. (I use widescreen) Saving process is slow, about the length of the show or 1% per minute. This creates a .WMV file about 1/3 the size of the original.
  6. If you want to compress the file even more you can use an encoder to convert the file from WMV to a compressed format (I prefer AVI) I use SUPER © from Erightsoft.com

Why should i pay you for your mistake

If you've payed some one and they've made a mistake and left, then later you've realised.. Hand on a second they need to come back and fix this right now.
The person responsible should come back and fix the problem totally free, thus giving the reason to pay some one for a mistake.

I cannot use the downloaded MP4 files in Movie Maker and I'm using Vista operating system. Z.

Indeed the mp4 file format is not compatible with Movie Maker. In case you want to use this movie editor I suggest you to download the freeware audio and video converter called "Format Factory" from this official link and convert the file to a compatible format. Format Factory is compatible with lots of audio, video and many more files.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Cant get any sound on my aspire5920

- Open the Control Panel
- Open Sounds and Audio Devices
- Open Hardware

Look for a device with some name and model number with 'Audio' behind it.
This will be the maker of the sound hardware.

Close the two latter functions and open System
- Open Hardware
- Open Device Manager
- Locate Sound, video and game controllers and open
- Locate the name you found previously
- Highlight and delete ( or uninstall) it

Restart your PC.

This should force Windows to recognize it again and look for and hopefully find the device drivers for it.

It is possible that as often happens, Windows just shot (corrupted) the device driver for the heck of it.

If this doesn't work, you need to run an online scan of your system or run your current AV program to see if something is tinkering with your sound facilities.
