Check all the cables. if you can open the case without breaking it, check all connections inside ensuring no broken visible links from the drive to the connections on the back. retry it in the computer after reassembling. IF it requires more than this effort it needs to be replaced.

Toshiba external drive won't instal on Windows 7 Home Premium

Will the external drive work on another computer? Has the external drive been dropped, bumped, jarred? If it works on another computer, shut down the Win7 laptop, unplug, remove battery, remove the USB external plug, plug into AC, reboot, when it is finished, plug in USB.

Hi there

Your screen hit the wood badly that is why you have a black and white screen..

The solution to this problem is to fix a new screen for your phone .

Dropped my external hard drive

Unfortantly if you dropped the drive then most likely you killed the drive because it messed up the read system in the drive. Now the case its self should be fine so you might keep it in case you ever need an extra drive encloser.

Sorry for the bad news

External drive shuts down the Toshiba 460CDX/2.1. OS is 2000. I do not have Admin rights to add Hardware, the Admin is no longer available. The CD writes does not write to a CD only plays CD's. I need to...

The external cd drive should be having both CD and DVD options, that is Combo Drive or Super CD Drive where you can write all your data on to the DVD - eitherway it can be done. You can copy the data from DVD / CD on to your toshiba laptop.

Best solution is replace the exisitng laptop to a latet one with Vista option. Will solve your probllm. Otherise try to contact the local authrozed hardware engineer to assist you in solving this problem.

Good Luck.

Hard Drive Dropped

Turn off your computer and then plug in the FreeAgent external drive. Then try turning your computer on, it should read.  If it doesn't I would go to the Seagate website for troubleshooting.

Help!Help with external hard drive?

Your disk drive is a delicate instrument, it will react negatively if dropped on the floor.
However what you might try all be it rather radical in this age of micro fine technology is. take a deep breath and sit down. Take the disk drive in your left hand with the edge of the drive that struck the floor facing away, make a fist with your right hand and strike the opposite edge with with almost equal force.
The reason behind this is simply that when you dropped your drive on the floor the heads got jammed either into the disk spool or out side of it,
If you have to pay $300 for disk recovery you cannot be doing much worse than trying this before you have to.

Toshiba satellite a75-s209

Probably not. Not only could the motherboard could be damaged but so could the keyboard, hard drive, CD/DVD, the cabinet, and possibly the screen.

It would take several hours of repair work and if you notebook hasn't been made in a few years it may be hard to get a mother board.
