I have the same problem. But that was the final problem with this lemon. The first problem was to buy a "Household name for Quality" product from a company that produces camera's. I bought the TV in March of 06, had it for a week and returned it for an exchange. In Dec 06 the new TV started producing "black rectangular pixels thoughout the screen. From Dec 06 thru Jan 07 Polaroid addressed the problem thru their repair agent. The problem was finally cured by the repair agent replacing the complete control box (after market companies charging $ 682.00 for part only). Then, today the TV was working fine and suddenly there was a big POP and the TV went blank. The blue power button was still on and I had to disconnect the power cord to turn the TV off. I reinstalled the power cord and the red button glowed. Wishful thinking I turn the TV on and the blue button glowed but there was complete blackness and no sound. The on/off switch will not turn the TV off and the only way is to disconnect the power cord. Finally I found the solution to the problem, I went out and bought a Sony.

Mine is a 3738 with the same problem.I guess the only solution is to buy another brand.I can get a replacement for 310.00 plus shipping, but I dont want another pos.Mine is 14 months old.

Won't turn on. Red light on front turns to blue but thats all. And to turn that off you have to unplug the set. Problem began as intermittent but rapidly got worse. Called Polaroid but no help except $310 plus shipping and thats after they got mine back.

I noticed that LCD backlights were not on, and everything seemed dead. I checked the power cord connection on back of set. It felt kinda loose, I unplugged it and replugged it in. BINGO everything is working. Apparently this connection was going bad and that prevented the power supply from getting full power effectively killing the power supply which resulted in no picture or sound.

It's a long shot but worth a try. Hopefully yours will also be a cheap fix.

I am having the same problem. I used to be able to unplug the TV, and turn it on again after I plugged it back in. Then I had to plug and unplug it repeatedly to get it to turn on and have the picture show up. Now the screen won't turn on. The blue light comes up, but the screen stays blank. I think that it is done for. I definitely won't be getting another one of these.

My FLM-373B was 1 year, 3 months, 26 days old when my control box went out. Which the symptoms are blue light coming on, but black screen or diagonal wavy lines in the picture which means the control box is about to go out. I finally got the number to Polaroid and called until I got help. (don't expect any help with their call center) I argued with the rep i spoke with that a $1K TV should not go out at 1 year 4 months! He agreed and sent me a new control box. The first one they sent also put wavy lines in the picture. The second one they sent me fixed the TV completely. The Control box also has a 90 day warranty. Unfortunately, if your TV is older than mine was, its unlikely they will help you. You can watch ebay for a unit, they come up regularly. You will need to know which one is the model version for your TV. Look at your serial number, the 4th and 5th characters tell you which version. If your model version is 00, 01, 02, 03, A1, 23 then the unit is: *909-KS0-GF371XAH. If it is 12, 13, A2 then the unit is: *909-TE1-GF378XCH. This info on the serial #/model version was given to me be a repair tech that had a control box for sale on ebay. I have not verified the information, nor did I have to use it, but it sounds accurate and he seemed knowledgeable. HOWEVER, you should consider carefully putting more money into a Polaroid TV. The replacement Control Box could also be defective and for the $100 or more you pay for that could have been put into a new TV. For the record, as soon as I got the TV working, I sold it. The money was a definate help on the $1200 I spent on a new 40" Sony. BTW, I made SURE I got a 2 year extended warranty for only $78 at Walmart, i suggest you do the same. Good Luck!

TV won't come back after pushing wrong button on remote.

Try unplugging the TV.. After you plug it back in it may be OK. I had a similar problem were I could not turn on the TV (JVC). The owners manual specified in the troubleshooting section to unplug for 1/2 hour. I left it unplugged overnight and the next day plugged it in and it was fine.

1 have a 6 year-old Mitsubishi model WS-48511 series 1080 rear projection TV that now won't turn on. A few days ago we shut the TV off, and now when i plug it in the blinking green power light...

This is called the blinking green light of death-----only one of two things can cause this problem.

First: remove front speaker grill (IT PULLS OFF) AND remove inspection plate behind it; look for the two bundles of wires coming down and to the right from the front keyboard of the set.

Unplug both plugs you find (different and marked so you cannot mix them up-----the idea is to take the front keyboard out of circuit-----set will still function with remote as receiver is behind front screen)

Try (after 70 seconds) to turn on with remote

If it comes on---defective reset button on front keyboard----use set only with remote or remove and remove actual reset switch---it is located behind and part of frame for screen----entire front screen would have to be removed to get at it.

Second: if disconnection of the front keyboard does not help, the DM unit is bad.

As you look from back of set it is large metal box at extreme left side.

The blinking light is the unit trying to "Boot" up-----these have a problem where caps and a few other parts in that unit fail-----kits on the net are available----Mitsubishi no longer sells or services these units but PTS Electronics does repair them.

Let me know if you have questions and try disconnection of the front keyboard FIRST.
