Here's a link from where you can download your manual, which describes registration process in detail.

I already have the manual and have gotten 4 other handsets to register, just a problem with the last one.

I'd suggest you switch off the base unplug it from power and wait for 2 minutes and then try registering.

  • bill_buholtz Jun 04, 2010

OK, that did not work, now what?

  • Aruna Singh
    Aruna Singh Jun 05, 2010

Step 1: Place the handset in the base unit or a charger that is connected to a power outlet. IfPRESS HNDST LOC 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and place in base or charger again.
Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold HANDSET LOCATOR for four seconds. ReleaseHANDSET LOCATOR once the IN USE light comes on.

After a while the handset will emit a series of tones, the newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset (1-4) when successfully registered. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to the telephone base within two minutes.

If still the handset is not registering then there might be some problem with the handset. You can call the service center and ask them about warranty or replacement option. The number is 1-800-222-3111

Make sure your handset batteries are properly
    installed and charged.
    • The handset will display NO BASE SUBSCRIPTION
    and ENTER BASE ID alternatively.
    • Enter the 15-digit base ID, and then select OK.
    • The handset will display PLEASE WAIT!! and then
    will search for the base.

If you are replacing a handset on a system that has the maximum number of registered
handsets (8) or wish to change the assigned handset number of your registered handset,
you must first deregister all handsets and then re-register all handsets.

On reading this clause it seems fair enough for trying once more to de-register all the handsets and first try to register the handset which is erratic. Also note that the maximum number of handsets could be eight only.

There's something known as understanding or mutual understanding. I can't have access to all type of models. If it is not handset search. It could be any other synonym locate find manage seek. If you do not wish to pay kindly let me know. I won't answer any further. Or you are most welcome to ask another expert.

Normally, during the process of registration, The handset will first display PLEASE WAIT!!, then T23 PD followed by SEARCHING FOR BASE. The screen will finally display HANDSET X when the registration is successful.
Please make sure that you are entering correctly the base ID.

OK that worked on the one that I got the T20 message, I am re charging the other one and try again. When I put the unit in the charging cradle the T23 message is on the screen and none of the buttons are responding. I may have a very low battery, not sure.

  • bill_buholtz Jun 03, 2010

OK, I folllowed the steps on the second phone and it went to Searching for Base, let it sit for more than 15minutes without going to the next step?

I put new batteries in my At&T cordless phones and I am getting a message on phone screen T23 PD

To register a handset to your telephone base
Make sure the handset battery is installed and charged properly. You have to enter a 15-digit telephone base ID to register the handset to the telephone base.

To find the telephone base ID and register the handset:

1. On the telephone base, press the MENU softkey when in idle mode to enter the feature menu. Press the or softkey to scroll to the DISPLAY BASE-ID menu, then press the OK softkey. The telephone base ID will be displayed.

2. On the handset, use the keypad buttons to enter the telephone base ID and press the OK softkey.
Press the softkey to move the cursor.

3. The handset will first display PLEASE WAIT!!, then T23 PD followed by SEARCHING FOR BASE. The screen will finally display HANDSET X when the registration is successful.

1. If the registration is not successful, the display will show NO BASE SUBSCRIPTION. Try the registration process again.

2. If an incorrect base ID is entered, the base ID will disappear and ENTER BASE ID will be displayed.

My handset to the 5962 is giving message T20 PD. How do I correct this and make the base find the handselt?

I tried the solution Crystalina_c gave and it didn't work for me. It seemed the battery was loose or not as snug and had some wiggle room. I used a coated paper clip which holds the battery tight against the contacts and it seems to be working fine now. *fingersstillcrossedthough*

Can you tell me how to fix this T23 PD error message on a handset for the AT&T EP 5962 2-line phone?

Well this worked for me so hopefully it will work for everyone else also... I had dropped my handset and the battery popped out.. well upon reinserting the battery i got the T23 PD Blinking error on my phone, well after trying multiple things from what the manual was stating I eventualy gave up and unplugged the handset from the wall... well we received a call in our office and all of a sudden my "unplugged" phone, that was still sitting in the handset charger began to ring and all the normal numbers and name were on the face of the handset... I then plugged the phone back in and went into the menu to Register, then entered the Base ID which is found at your Base Phone. Once this was complete it said please wait.. although for a short while it kept on saying System Busy if you tried to hit line 1 or 2 but by the next morning it is working fine! :) Hope this helps for you also.

I have an EP5962 system with 4 cordless phones. It is at a seasonal residence, and I just came here for the first time this season, and none of the handsets works. The base unit works. I charged for 24...

First thing you must do, is clear the base memory of the phones.

To deregister all handsets:
Select MENU on the base, scroll to SETUP BASE,
then select OK.
Scroll to DEREGISTER ALL and then select SET. Thebase will display DO YOU WANT TO DEREGISTER ALL HANDSETS?
Select YES. All handsets are deregistered and are unusable until each has been re-registered

During registration, you must enter the 15-digit ID number of the telephone base. To find this number, go to the base, select MENU, scroll down to DISPLAY BASE ID, then select OK

My E2562 handset 1 would not detect base and displayed D51A PD whenever I tried to manually register it. This fixed it:
1. Remove battery from handset.
2. Unplug base and unplug phone connection(s). Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in base.
4. Plug in phone connection(s) to base.
5. Put battery back in handset. Handset 1 should then auto register with base.

Handset can't find base.

I just got a 3rd handset for the same phone system and were having the same error message,,, the at&t help line does not know what it is,.,. We returned it once and got another one because of the same problems, and were still having it.. AT & T help line said to return it again and try another one .. then he actually said to replace the whole phone system .. thats easier said than done! we paid 199 plus tax on the system and then another 81.00 for the third handset!

Hey, Laptops are very fragile and sensitive components! If you feel that you are capable of task like this then godspeed! Something like that could be three things! 1.) Your screen inverter has gone bad! The inverter is the device that provide high voltage power to the lamps in your screen! 2.) The lamps in your screen are bad! These things are usually rated for like 50000 hours. 3.) It could be as simple as servicing the laptop(cleaning up the contacts and ensuring good connection) Laptops come in all shape and sizes, and worse some come with a thousand screws of different sizes! It should be relatively easy to take down but the hard part is putting it back together. I have this friend who, after he re-assembled a laptop, always has extra screws!! He says the laptop don't need em! LOL What i would suggest is moving the entire screen, that way you don't have to take it apart to get to the inverter( should be the only other device located in your screen aside from the actual LCD(the lamps are in the LCD) The models sound very similiar but not sure about them either, it the screen looks the same then you can change it! Practice taking down the t20 first then if it breaks you'll know how NOT to break the t23! lol I would always recommend getting a pro to handle something like this though, cause is very tedious you have to be real careful! Best of Luck! regards, babb
