I have a R821-1 gas cooktop that has been used on nat gas but will soon have propane. I need to know how to adjust it for propane.

The range top had some vague instructions on it for using propane instead of natural gas. To use propane, a more dense gas, it said something about adjusting something?

Often times when people live in rural areas the gas company does not supply gas to homes. therefore a propane tank is installed outside the dwelling...........

--There is a kit that comes with all manufactured stoves. The kit is attached to the underside of the oven cavity. Remove the kit and look at the instructions, They will tell you which color orifice goes to which burner.
--Remove the orifice from the burner and install the new ones
Now remove the cap from the gas regulator and flip it over then reinstall it
--Now look inside the oven you will see the main burner tube at the point of entry there will be an adjustable orifice, With a wrench turn the orifice clockwise until it bottoms out
--If the oven is equipped with a broiler you will need to do the same to the broiler orifice
--hook up the gas stove and turn the gas on. Most new stoves have electronic ignition so you don't have to light a pilot just turn the knob and the flame lites

I had a grill in a highrise in ny and just ran a line from the gas to the grill and it worked fine for years. So once the proper fittings are installed "if they aren't",already, it should work fine. Propane and natural gas are basically the same, just an inflamable gas.Just make sure you have the propane fittings in the hookup spot, that valve will stop the gas in case of a problem, like someone moving the grill while it's running.

The only thin it could me is the air/gas mixture. If the flame is not the normal color you may have to rutna scre that adjusts the air intake, but the sucke will still work. Once you get her running let me know the color of the flame and I will tell you how to adjust the mixture of air/gas. It's no big deal, they like to make this stuff sound comlicated and it's not. Fire is fire, lol. Im here for you if you need anything just leave a message and I will check on you later, I think I had too much barbq myself this weekend,

Pardon my typing, it's a bit late and my brain is foggy. What i meant to say is there is probablly a screw or an air flow valve, that regulates the amount of gas that mixes with the propane to get a blue flame with a slight yellow tip. You may not have to do anything other than run the tank to the proper regulator and that's it.

I am using propane for my cooktop but all my pots and pans have been turning burnt black soot on the bottoms. It's ruining all my other dishes now from the dishwasher spreading it all over, We tried...

You don't have the right Gas to Air ratio..... Not enough air to the burners or you are running to low of gas pressure for propane... Propane takes a smaller orfice or operate than Natural Gas.....
You should have 10" of WC for Propane operation..
You will need a manometer to check it.
The flame should be a blue color with no yellow in it. There should be air shutters right at the orfice to each burners. You will have to play with the adjustment to get the best blue flame with no yellow in the flame.... Hope this helps.....

I want to adjust my Admiral LGC1330AD gas cook top to work on propane. How do I proceed? I'm told there is no conversion kit, it is all adjustment.

Two thing you need to do.
1) Call your gas company where you are supplied propane and ask them to set you up and they or someone who contracts for them will help you.
So you will need to replace ALL burners including the oven.
2) Call Admiral and ask them about changing to propane and if they have the products

Propane conversion

All gaq cooktops come from the factory ready to be installed to natural gas. If the only gas available is propane the orifices have to be changed. The orifices are product specific and must be ordered for your particular stove.

That being said, if this is a new cooktop you have the answer. If this is a used cooktop and you do not know which style of orifices are installed now just contact your propane company and they will be happy to help you for free.

good luck with this. and please remember to rate my answer.

Propane to Natural Gas Conversion

on the regulator there is a 1/2" nut, made of aluminum. loosen the nut, thur it around and screw it back in, there is a "NAT" on one side, and a "LP" on the other side, make sure the "LP" is facing out if you are using propane, and "NAT", if you are using Natural Gas. Very simple, all you need is a 1/2" wrench, or a small adjustable wrench,
