Question about HP Compaq Presario Media Center SR1750NX (EL445AA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have a HP Compaq Presario Media Center computer, it is plugged to a surge protector, the other night the electricity went out and my computer was turned on, and now I cannot get it to turn on at all, the power button will not turn green no matter how long you hold it. Tried it on different recepticals too, still nothing. The computer does show a green blinking light on the back of the tower so it is receiving power but won't turn on. Any suggestions?

I have a COMPAQ, Presario SR1055CL Desktop, that will not bootup

Hi....If the computer will not start and you hear no fans or other electrical sounds chances are the power supply has failed. If you had an electrical storm that caused the blackout and did not have a surge protector power strip it could be much worse. Check the power supply first. You can google for help in testing that supply. Good Luck Hank

Compag presario will not start

Try the following possible solutions:
1. Unplug the power from your computer for 15 minutes.
2. If your computer is plugged in via a surge protector, plug your computer into the power outlet directly, maybe you are dealing with a faulty surge protector.
3. Near the plug where the power plugs into the back of your computer, there is a little switch where you can choose between 120 volts (USA) and 220 Volts (Europe) as input. Make your this did not inadvertently get changed to 220 Volts.

If neither one of these solves your problem, please let me know so I can assist you further. Also, how old is this computer?

Thanks for using the fixya forums!

Problem with power cord/AC adaptor...maybe?

I would just go buy another battery charger pack. They are like 75 dollars to buy. Sounds like yours might have a short in it!

Presario 2200 won't turn on after local power outage

Hi Mellisa,
If there isn't any lights on the laptop when it is plugged into the mains supply there is a power problem.
Check the surge protector, has got a reset button?
Plug a lamp into this surge board, if the lamp lights up when the board is connected to the mains then the surge board is OK.
Next check the laptop's power adapter with a multimeter, the voltage reading should be as per the label on the adapter. If the voltage is less than the voltage on the label, then it is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Borrow another adapter to connect to your laptop to see if it powers up or take it to your friendly computer shop to test it.

Computer power won't turn on

First thing to do is try to plug the pc in another wall socket to see if it goes on, If not, the MB could have gotten fried, even though the other plugs seem to work. Hopfully you just need another surge protector as that could have gotten damaged.

HP M1050Y - not powering up after power surge

The green light at back is probably the NIC or network interface card, which means the computer is receiving power. Just not enough apparently. Try changing the power cords from being plugged into the surge protector to being plugged dirctly into wall socket. When you do this take the ethernet cable out before turning it ON.
