Typically a blank screen indicates you are using a bad or defective battery. Try the battery of another radio in this unit and see if the problem still exists. There is no function to shut off the display screen, so it is apparent you have either a battery or radio problem. My T5950 won't stop beeping when I push the PTT button. I tried holding the PTT in when I turn the unit on and that didn't stop it.

Very likely it is the battery. Beeping means not enough power especially when transmitting. Try charging the battery again, try transmitting again and plan on new batteries. They "wear out" even when not in use.

My radio turn off after 1 minute in tx mode, how

If you are referring to when you hold down the PTT button for more than 60 sec. This function cannot be changed. It is self preservation of the final amplifier and other components in the radio. Transmitting longer than 60 seconds would damage/ruin the radio. (If this is not the issue please clarify.)

Best regards.

I am using Motorola T5950 and have it set to Channel 7 with ICE to 4. Hunting buddies have Cobra Microtalks set to Channel 7 and ICE 04. I can hear them but they cannot hear me. Can I rectify this? Thanks

Check to see if your Qt filter is turned off. This is an extra filter the T5950 has to block out other users. It is possible you have yours turned on and it is blocking the cobras.

If it isn't the Qt filter, set all the radios to have their ICE in the off position (usually zero). The radios should then be able to communicate. It could be the ICE is slightly different between the brands.

T5950 2-way

Hi,

Initially, pls check that the displays of both radios are identical. This is important to establish that the channel/frequency, Interference eliminator settings and all others are the same that both are paired. In some instances, the radio settings may not be changed if it is locked. Top unlock, press on the MENU button for about 3 seconds. For all other settings, pls refer to the user's manual.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Pair of radios won't talk to each other

Have you checked the QT filter? The T5950 have an addtional interference filter called the QT filter. It filters out other radios and allows Motorola radios to speak only to other Motorola radios with the filter. Check the QT setting on both radios by pushing the menu button 6 times, the QT setting will show. If it shows a straight line on the display the filter is not on. Now push the + button (beside the menu button), to turn the QT filter on (a Y will show on the screen when on) or the - button to turn it off (the line will show when filter is off). The radios have to match all channels and all filters to talk to each other.
