Hi,

Most of the times, you're going to find that this is due to over heating. If you've been playing for a while, shut down your Playstation, and let it sit for about 1 hour. It's best if the room is cooled off as well.If the room is hot, you may want to put a fan blowing toward it, or turn up your Air Conditioning.Check the back of your unit, and make sure that all of the cables are plugged in. What you're going to want to do is take out each one, and blow the inside of the ports with compressed air.

To play it safe, take out the Playstation's hard drive, and place it back in.Once the 1 hour is up, and the Playstation hasn't been running, turn it back on, and see if everything is working. If it is, you're good to go! If it isn't, you may want to consult with Sony.

Thank you !!

How do you reset your PS3?

You can reset the Sony PlayStation 3 to troubleshoot the gaming system or restart after a hard drive freeze. Resetting the PS3 will restore the PS3's settings to to the default factory settings. Consider backing up any data or custom settings before doing a system reset for the PS3 as they might be erased.

instructions:

1
  • urn off the PS3 by flipping the power switch on the back of the system.

  • 2

Turn the power switch back to the "on" position.

  • 3

Hold the power button while the PS3 is powering up until you hear three beeps. These signal that the PS3 has received the manual system reset command.

  • 4

Prompt through the initial setup menu to continue resetting the PS3.

  • 5

Select "Format" from the system menu to format and finish a complete system reset for the PS3.

Ps3 keeps saying restoring database it stops at 40% and after like 1 minuite it goes to 100% then it does the same thing again by saying restoring data base.

    Hello
    Try a router reboot.
1 power down ps3 and any pcs or laptops.
2 Unplug all cables from router.Including power for 1 min.
3 Plug all cables back in the router and power up.
    4 Try ps3 again.

Another solution is some data on ps3 may be corrupt. You would need to do a restore of ps3.
You will losse all info stored in ps3 such as username passwords and accout numbers.
So write it all down if you can.
1Turn off ps3 with switch in back.
2 Turn back on,hold power button until you hear 3 beeps.
3 go through setup until prompted to format.
    4 Then format.

This operation can take as long as 1 to 3 hours. Also you will loose all info you put into ps3.

This is one of the most serious PS3 errors you can get. You can try access the PS3 service menu and doing a restore.

How to get access to service mode
    1. Make sure the PS3 is turned off,
    2. Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off.
    3. When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps.
    4. It will ask for the controller to be connected via the USB cable,
    5. Turn on the controller and you will have access to the menu.
    Hope this helps.

In regards to looking for PS3 powersupplies you have 2 options. You can do a search through Ebay and/or you can do some searches on the Internet.

I got one the other day for $35 after shipping.

Here is some links that I ran a search on. Note PS3 is also a term used in computer powersupplies so you will get some hits on them as well.

    http://shop.ebay.com/items/ps3%20power%20supply?_dmd=1&_sop=12&tt_encode=raw&crlp=1652236613_9405&keyword=ps3+power+supply

Let me know if you have any more questions and/or problems.
