I am getting memory card error with canon powershot a410

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card and won't work in devices not designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I'm getting memory card locked error using a 8GB SDHC card in my Canon A410 camera. The slider is NOT set to locked

The A410 works with MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

I'm getting memory card locked error using a 4GB SDHC card in my Canon A410 camera.

Take the memory card out of the camera and look at it. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

Am looking at a second hand camera canon a410 and the seller says you need a hd card what is this?

I am sure he is referring to an SD (Secure Digital) card. This is a standard memory card for most digital cameras. So after purchasing the camera, you have to buy an SD card to record images.

Camera wont turn on

I just posted that I have this problem as well. Then, after browsing further at Canon's site, I found a possible link between the memory card and the power problem. Sure enough, I popped the memory card out and reinserted it and the camera powered right up. I hope this helps others. . . .

Formatted memory card

You cant format means wipe or delete EVERYTHING including files and folders you have to start from scratch. I had to learn the hard way as well.
