Question about Sabrent ECNU25K Hard Drive Enclosure 25 SATA to USB 20 Black Serial ATA USB USB 20 Drive Case

1 Answer

I have a Sabrent EKU25 hard drive enclosure and want to access my hard drive from an IBM Thinkpad T61 computer. There are not pints on the side of this hard drive in order for me to connect the little system board thingy that is part of the Sabrent. So how am I to connect the hard drive?

Simply put you have the wrong case: your case is for an IDE/PATA hard disk (the one with the big wide cable with a lot of wires and pins) while the hard disk from the IBM is a SATA (narrow cable with just a few wires and pins). They will not work together, nothing you can do about it.
Luckily a SATA enclosure is a cheap item, buy one like

Macally G-S350SUA power supply

  • I have the same Macally hard drive enclosure and I misplaced my power supply also. I used an old IBM Thinkpad power supply. These are common and cheap. The Macally enclosure states 12V DC input, and the Thinkpad PS is rated at 16V but it works fine. The plug and polarity are correct.

Yes, it's highly-likely that all your "data" files on the disk-drive are intact. Any qualified computer-technician can remove the disk-drive, temporarily connect it as a "slave" drive in a computer, and copy all your files onto DVD-writable disk(s).

Might be video card problem or something that is connected with your video is getting fault, dirty or loose contact is a big candidate. If you can test it using external monitor if it have external monitor port try that first. If external monitor works then back up your files immediately using external media. CD, dvd, flash drive or in another external hard drive.

Second option is to take out the hard drive and hook it into a USB hard drive adapter or a USB enclosure. And retrieve your files if you want on another working computer.

Then the laptop should go to a repair. If you are not so sure of doing this, have your friends that have knowledge on this assist you or bring it to a reputable shop.

Just for an input.
