Question about Sony KP-53HS10 TV

Standby Light Blinking

I was watching tv then suddenly it went off and the Standby light started blinking continously... no code just blinking. I tried resetting the tv by unplugging it... waiting for 5 minutes then plugging it back in...still the same result... MY TV is a KP53HS10 Rear Projection TV. I downloaded the repair manual but it has no troubleshooting section in it. What do I do?

The TV will work fine for about 10 minutes then screen goes black and the stand by light starts blinking. Still has sound. If you turn off the tv, and turn back on immediately, it is fine for about two minutes or less. The longer it is off, the longer you can watch :(

The service manual is for the technician who knows how to troubleshoot electronic circuits using the schematic diagram and test equipment. There is no such thing as a trouble shooting section in Sony service manuals. My best advice would be if you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck

SOURCE: Standby Light Blinking

Standby light is a signal indicating a voltage trouble on your system . It could mean a compoment is defective or a power regulator needs replacement worse is a system IC replacing. you better bring your stuff to a Sony service center and do a check on your TV system.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. I pressed the sleep button by accident and the pic and sound went off and the stand by/timer red light started blinking. what does it mean?

Depends on how many times it blinks, just count the blinks Example: if it blink 2 times then pauses and blink 5 times then the code would be 25 and so on

Once you have this code, please post it.

TV wont go back on

That would mean the TV is in some sort of error condition. Unplug the power from the wall for 30 minutes, plug it back in and see if it operates nominally.

Bush 32" TV. desperate situation. T-T

The TV is in protection mode. An internal problem was detected and the set shutdown to prevent further damage. If the set is only 9 months old, it should still be under warranty. Call and request warranty service.
