Question about Canon PIXMA MP610 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My Canon PIXMA MP610 has a jam visible through the glass of the scanning bed - there is a "chain" that normally moves from left to right during the scanning process, but it has jammed up and I can see that it's stuck in one position. The printer cannot perform any functions - as soon as I turn it on it freezes up and the chain attempts to move, but instead it just clicks in place. I then get an error code telling me to power off, then power back on. I've tried this multiple times. How do I get into the scanning bed to fix this? Thanks!

Do I just unscrew all the screws underneath the scanning part? I don't see any that lets me take the glass off.

You have a scanner error. Most likely its a dirty sensor under the scan glass.
You would need to partially dismantle the scanner bed and clean the home
sensor. A tricky proposition without the right tools.

Where is the serialnumber of the Pixma MP620 printer?

with the front panel down, lift the top cover and the glass scan screen panel, this will reveal the ink cartridges, wait until the cartridges have moved left then look down to the right of the cartridges, on the silver chassis you will see the serial number.

I have a Canon MP610 printer and am getting an error message 6A00. I have tried moving the carriage but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Hi,

1. Turn off the printer

2. Open cover

3. Print head and cartridges manually move to the left

4. on the extreme right is a white plastic cover is visible, which is attached to a spring

5. Clean the cover carefully (no chemicals, not wet) and gently push it back (it clicks) and remove any impurities -> the black collecting sponges for the storage of the print head can see

6. Print head and cartridges manually back to the right move

7. Turn on printer

If the above steps does not fix the problem, Click on the link below to check the forum for more details on resolving the issue.

Can I save a scanned image using MP610?

Yes. PIXMA MP610 is a multifunction printer that has printer/copier/scanner capabilities.
Just install the software and drivers supplied with your printer (or download them from CANON ) and connect the printer do the computer.
The printer sofware will guide you through the operation of scanning an image and saving it to a a file in the computer.
Below is a link to CANON product support pages, from where you can dowload the software and drivers for the printer and also guides and manuals.

Canon PIXMA iP4600 - error 6A80

Hello someone else here had this problem, this is what he posted: "Same problem with a Canon MP540 fresh from the box. Turned out to be the print head unit was not returning fully to the home position ie extreme right. My Fix : When the scanning unit cover is raised the print head unit moves left for access, look in the vacated area to the right, in particular the small black sponge where the head normally parks. I found a small spring jammed in beside the sponge, removed it and all is well. Don't know what the spring was meant to do but everything is working fine without it.On the MP540 the head unit now glows red, presumably meaning all is well... "

Printer problem

During a normal scan, the light source moves across the large glass pane reading the entire area. When using the ADF, the light source remains stationary below the small small glass pane to the left. Check for smudges or specs on this glass area. We had the same problem, and cleaning the small glass pane worked.
