Question about Canon PowerShot A720 IS Digital Camera
I have a Canon PowerShot A720 IS. I usually use "auto". My camera will work in daylight but will not flash or take a picture indoors unless it is on "Landscape" or "Stitch Assist". I have changed the batteries, reset the settings, and explored when it works and when it does not. Is this fixable? What's wrong?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This is a common problem with S1 IS and it is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Note that you can playback captured images without any problem but in capture mode all you get is blank screen. Will have to go to Canon but note that Canon repairs these models free of charge when it is the CCD sensor that stops working.

SOURCE: Manual for my Powershot A720 IS.
Log onto www.powershot.com and in the canon consumer search bar at top type in a720. On recommended links, click the first one which will be the a720 homepage. Once you see the image of the camera and 7 tabs below, click on drivers and downloads.
Look under Guides and Manuals and you will find what you are looking for.
Hope this helps!

It can be a damage sensor, a lens problem or a control board problem.
Ensure that it is not a setting problem, check that you did not set the light mode by mistake.
If it is less than one year old is covered with guaranty.
Contact Canon to validate the guaranty

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here:

The problem is in the battery holder of the CR1220
-Take out the CR1220 battery (the little round one).
you replace it, put a bit of aluminum foil against the back, between the
battery and the plastic holder, to make it a nice tight fit. One layer won't do
it, but don't put in half the roll.
back in. Done
fresh battery & clean it all with alcohol = good idea as well. Worked for me.
