HPLJ 8150 printer - sheets are wrinkled and creased

Most, but not all of the sheets that come out of our HPLJ 8150 printer are creased or wrinkled. Will a new fuser and rollers fix the issue?

Why are sheets and towels coming out all wrinkled

You aren't using fabric conditioner, or using 'cheap' fabric conditioner or your spin speed is too high. Tumble drying will remove the creases anyway, or you can iron them damp. Creasing is showing you the water is almost fully removed. If you live in a hard water area add water softener like Calgon to the wash and fabric softener drawer.

How to remove wrinkles from polyester table cloth?

After unfolding a new tablecloth, you'll quickly notice those pesky creases. Even after washing and drying the tablecloth, they may still be there and with wrinkles too. Before you iron a polyester tablecloth -- which if done incorrectly may burn, melt, stain or shrink the fabric -- try rewashing and drying it in a manner that reduces wrinkles and helps get rid of creases. Then, iron only if necessary.

Crease in page when printing cannon image runner 1310

A crease is usually caused by two issues. 1 ) paper is hitting something on the way to the fuser causing a skew. This type of problem would be repeatable every page as well as causing the image to be off centre. The 2) reason is the more likely cause. A bearing on the lower (pressure roller) is beginning to seize. Causing paper not to feed straight through the fuser. This cause a wrinkle from from to back on the sheet of paper. This wrinkle although repeatable generally the wrinkle position up or down on the sheet. This gives the impression of something that is getting in the way of the sheet. If you can change your lower pressure bearings you should be ok again.

How can I stop the paper from jamming

Be sure to load paper very carefully, removing and discarding any sheeets wrinkled or creased. Check the paper path, looking especially for paper dust or scraps of paper from earlier jams. Check the rubber sheet pickers as they may be worn or dirty. Check the paper path as thoroughly as possible, again looking especially for paper dust or scraps of paper from earlier jams.

Wrinkled copies

Fuser unit is about the only thing in this model of printer that WILL cause wrinkling/creasing of the paper. So most likely, yes you are going to need to replace the fusing assembly.

Paper not feeding properly

Follow these steps to reload paper:

  1. Remove the paper and make sure it's not curled or wrinkled.

  2. Fan the stack to make sure the sheets are separated.

  3. Open the paper support and pull up the extension.

  4. Extend the output tray.

  5. Flip the feeder guard forward. Squeeze the edge guide and slide it left.

  6. Insert paper, printable side up and short edge first, against the right side and beneath the tab.

You can load up to 100 sheets of 20 lb plain paper or up to 20 sheets of photo paper.

  7. Slide the edge guide to the edge of the paper, but not too tightly.

Follow these guidelines when loading paper:

    • Do not load paper above the arrow on the edge guide.

    • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

    • If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin.

    • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

    • Load the printable side face-up. It's often brighter or whiter than the other side.

    • Load letterhead or preprinted paper top edge first.

    • If you experience paper feeding problems, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If you're using special paper, check the package for special loading instructions.
Follow these steps to reload paper in the Automatic Document Feeder:

  1. Remove the paper and make sure it's not curled or wrinkled.

  2. Tap the originals on a flat surface to even the edges.

  3. Move the edge guides outward.

  4. Insert the originals face-up. You can load up to 30 letter-size sheets at a time. If you load legal-size sheets, insert only 10 sheets at a time. Make sure the originals are not creased or folded and do not have tape, staples, or other materials that could obstruct the feeder.

  5. Slide the edge guides against the originals.

Paper is crumpled, toner is not adhering in certain areas

The fuser is shot....this is the unit that uses heat and pressure to fuse the toner to the page. It is primarily when the pressure roller wears that you get crinkling and bad fusing, but I'm sure the upper sleeve has seen better days as well.
These days it is (sadly) cheaper to replace this printer with a new little HP -only around $100 or so.
