Check to see if the LAN card is enabled and working. If not install the LAN card driver. If the LAN driver is working then go to Control Panel - Network Connections - right click on the LAN card then click on Properties, then check the TCP/IP settings of the LAN card, Tick Obtain an IP address automatically and tick Obtain an DNS server address automatically. Then you will be able to connect to the Internet.
After reinstalling your xp, the next thing to do is install the drivers of your motherboard. the drivers include lan card and sound card drivers. The lan card needs to work so you can explore the internet.. while the sound card needs to work so there will be sounds on your speaker.
If you don't have the drivers,, I can help you get one just tell me the model of your motherboard. and or sound card and lan card..

Sir,only using yahoo connection it will not provide to setup internet connection. For internet connection you have to configure all the component which provides you to connect with internet. These configuration requires LAN card,LAN driver,modem,NIC card,phone and internet service provider to assist the internet to activate the internet.
Either the LAN card is faulty or the LAN driver is not installed and/or not configured properly or the LAN cable is faulty.
Check Device Manager to see if the LAN driver is installed, working and enabled. If not then re-install the LAN card driver.
If the LAN driver won't install or detect the LAN card then it maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.
Try a different LAN cable.
Is all the LEDs on in the modem?
Try rebooting the modem (power it off for 30 secs and power it up again).
the easiest way to setup internet on the laptop, is to go to control panel, and launch the network setup wizard. this will enable you to setup a new network, and scan for a local area network connection. this will also give you access to the troubleshooter. to solve any connection problems or issues, should there be any. If your using a wireless method. Your PC must also be able to transmit/receive wireless Signals. If hardwired you,ll have to use the network setup wizard, as this will auto determine I.P And any other DNS settings et,c.
plug the modem through the USB cable given to the usb port and install the required driver from the given CD..If usb cable or CD is not given approach the BSNL office and ask for it..Else u can buy a lan card whick cost abt 100 i think..
Hi, Go to Control Panel -> Network connections make sure the Local Area connection is enable. if this working fine then replace you LAN card. LAN card is connected to the PCI slot of the motherboard. And install drivers for your LAN card. Thank you
