Hi,

I have found some useful information in order to remove/control algae.

Please go through the information provided via:

http://www.pondkoi.com/algae_1b.htm

There are also KOI CARE ALGAECIDE that kills all types of algae, and it does not affect plants, Koi, or Goldfish. It does not contain copper. It is inexpensive at $17.50/pint, $27/quart, $39/1/2 gallon, $69/gallon

Filter works fine, except one side where it clamps down is leaking. Other than that it works great and I don't want to replace it. Any ideas?

Is there a gasket or o-ring that is damaged or bad? IF not you can run a bead of silicon around it where the surfaces join and let it dry before you put it together. This would make a gasket.

Our sand filter is not filtering the water clean. We have changed the sand, but I have to backwash it every other day or the dirt comes back out through the jets. What is the problem and how can I fix...

Make sure you used #20 silica sand a smaller sand will do this. Also if you have alge be sure all the alge is dead or it will get through the filter. You can probally kill alge with liquid chloriene. Start with about 10 gal. chlor. per 10,000 gal in pool.

Installing an air pump in a 5000 litre tank

The pump must be mounted nearest the 5000 liter tank. The air intake will be the air sorrounding the area, while the discharge low pressure air must be pipe to underwater level such that the air discharge of the air pump bubble up the water (aerate the water) inside the tank. This is common in fish pond/ shrimps pond/ and water treatment plants. Electrical wiring is
standard for the electric motor and controls.

Missing a owners manual for a Garden Treasures biological filter

I have the manual, and I can scan it as PDF, but dunno how to send it to you.  I guess this site won't want us to post email. The Canister is very easy to use, just DO NOT remove the metal tension seal ring.  To prep it, you first have to remove the 4+1 top screws; remove the top part (be careful do not pry the clear plastic cover off, that should stay intact); plug the UV in its socket and carefully insert the UV light into the center chamber; reassemble the top with 4+1 screws; attach the two cone-shape nozzles to the "In" and "Out" of the canister, if you use 3/8" tubing for the pump, then no need to cut the nozzles, if you use 1/2" tubing, then cut the 3/8" section off, likewise for the 3/4" tubing, make sure the In and Out should have the same flow to balance the pressure inside the canister; turn the handle to "Work" plug the tube from the pump into "In" and connect the "Out" with the tube return to the pond or water fall; Turn on the water pump and plug in the UV light (use GFCI), wait 30 secs, and you should see the flow from the return tubing. Note:  use a 650+ gph bump at least; DO NOT submerge the canister in the water; put the canister on an even surface; cover the canister against rain and moisture.  My 800-gallon "green" pond clears up in 7-days. Good luck!

Servicing a koi pond filter - Hoselock Bioforce

You can backflush it. Just swap the intake hose over to the outlet hose, then put the outlet hose on the intake. Don't forget to remove the outlet hose from the pond. Run the pump for a minute or so. Then switch the hoses back.
If it's real dirty, turn the pump off and take the outlet hose out of the pond, then undo the clips on top of the filter and lift of the top, then clean the sponges. Re-assemble.

PUMP RUNS BUT DOES NOT **** UP WATER

I have experienced this same problem and all I needed was to prime the pump. Unless your pump cannot pump up that high.

Pump goes on and off

Does the pump have thermall protection? It sounds like its getting hot and tripping the thermal protection switch in the pump windings.
