My mp3 is also stuck on refresh database and don't know what to do. I tried taking out the battery and nothing. I also tried shutting it off for a while and still nothing. Every time I turn it on it still says refresh database. Someone please help! Also, I tried plugging it back in to the computer to see if I could figure something, anything and I noticed that when I went into my computer I didn't even see an icon of my mp3 on the device section. So what now?

I had this problem with my e 250, and I took the advice. But when I got to the SanDisk site, it would not give me an option to download the latest firmware. Actually, it didn't give me an option for a firmware download of any kind. Instead, it wanted me to download the Firmware Updater, which was supposed to find all of the updates specifically for my player. So, I went ahead and downloaded it. It will load up, and it says that it recognizes my device, but it only does this for a few seconds then the thing tells me to contact SanDisk tech support with the error code #1003. Everything worked just fine up to this point. Did I download the wrong thing? I am kind of at the end of my options for this player, and it is just my luck that it decided to do this after the warentee ran out. But this sounds like the way it works from what others have posted. I can only hope you have other options for me to try as these failed.

At first while I would be listening to a song the screen would just turn white and I would have to turn off and turn back on the mp3 player to get the screen back to normal. Later, I started to have trouble turning on the player, having to press and hold the power button severval times just to turn it on. Now When I try to turn it on the screen says refresh database and I don't know what that means.

SOURCE: Refresh database looping

This may not work for everyone - but try inserting a TransFlash (also called Micro SD)card in the microSD slot, and power on. It may then correctly refresh its database. It worked in my case, with firmware ver11.

SOURCE: refresh database message

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select format when prompted. You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool. - Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds) - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position. - Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer. Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted. Best of Luck.

Take out the MicroSD card. Turn it on. When it comes on, turn it off. Clean the contacts on the card and reinsert. Then try turning it on again.
