There is a thermostat underneath the top of the machine. There are a couple of little screws that you need to undo then you will see a little dial or even a little T on top of a metal box or circuit board. I recommend that you unplug the machine before opening it up. Then just turn the thermostat down - usually counter clockwise. Turn it just a little and put the top back on the machine and let it heat up.

It sounds like the tank isn't full. Unplug the machine and make sure there is a pot underneath to catch water. Pour clean water into the tank until it starts flowing out. Plug the machine in and let it heat up. Then try brewing coffee.

The way your machine works is that there is a holding tank for the water and it isn't actually brewing with the water you just poured in, it is using the holding tank water. If the holding tank gets low, and you pour water in all it does is fill the tank but nothing will come out.

Hope this helps.

Most likely it is your tank heater, but look on the top of the tank heater, because sometimes the wire will burn off the top of the element

SOURCE: Filter basket overflows after cleaning Bunn VPR Coffee Maker

Make sure you are using BUNN brand cupcake filters, not the shorter-sided generic variety. Also, inquire with BUNN about an optional attachment for some models that will slow down the rate of water flow. Lastly, ensure that you are not over-filling the basket with grinds. There is an upper limit to how much a coffeemaker will hold, and some people try to compensate for weak coffee by adding too much.

Just bought the a new Bunn VPR with two heaters for work. Should the unit be unplugged at night? If it is unplugged, how long the next day will it take to brew a pot. Is it safe to leave the unit...

That is one of the best coffee makers ever.It will last for a long time.Yes it is ok to leave it unplugged.Do not ever leave an empty pot on a burner that is on.Once a month, put 1 cup of white vinegar where the water goes, and run the machine. This will clean the inside. After you use the vinegar, run one pot of clean water through the machine.

Your unit needs service. Contact the company that sold or installed the unit.

Poured water into a Bunn Vpr coffee maker, the coffe was cold. Why did this happen?

Possible the hi-limit turned off the heater, the thermostat is not working or the elements are damaged, or the inline thermal fuse is damaged.

Bunn Series VPR, pour water in, water comes out cold

Test that you have it plugged into an operating outlet.... Check that all of the switches are "on" (the warmer and the heater switches). If this doesn't help, you'll need to unplug the unit and test the switch and element for proper operation. Both can be tested for continuity. If they all test good, then I'd suspect the thermostat.
Good luck and best regards, --W/D--

Leaking tank on new Bunn coffee maker

Hi, is your unit a new VPR? it could have just a gasket that is not tight, or if you pour too fast it could overflow the fill reservoir. Either way you can go to www.bunnomatic.com and serch in either home, or commercial for the 800 number appropriate for you, thank you :)

I own a bunn and my brother's business owns 2 of these. The rule of thumb as he was told by the salesman is 2 oz of coffee grinds per 48 oz of water.
