Linksys password

Before doing a hard reset on the router you may want to try the default username and password. While this is not the same for all routers, this may allow you access to your router.

Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: <Blank>, try just pressing enter or try "admin" as the password as well.

If this does not work and you believe the router is using the default username and passwords try viewing the default settings at routerpasswords.com
Resetting your router

If the default username and password doesn't work it's likely you or someone whose setup your router has enabled a password that has been forgotten. Thankfully most routers will have a small pinhole button on the back or bottom of the router (like that shown in the picture to the right), pressing this button in and holding on this button for 10-15 seconds will hard reset the router. After this has been done setup the router again and enter a username and password that you can write down.
hope this helps

I cant set up my wireless router

1. Plug it in2. plug it into your modem 3.plug the ethernet wire into your pc and the router. 4. depending on the router if its linksys, open your browser and go to 192.168.1.1 username is admin and password is admin. if the router is D-Link go to 192.168.0.1 and the username is admin and there shouldnt be a password. 5. put an encryption by going into the security setting of your router. 6. put a password to your router so nobody can access it without your permission. 7. go on all your computers and connect them to the network. while connecting it will prompt you to insert the password. insert the key that the router generated for you in the security settings. 8. you are now done. you should have no problem with the internet connection.
please rate thank you gzambito

I want to insert a password in internet connection Braggion Giorgio

You should connect to router configuration page using your web browser. Normlly the adress you should type is 192.168.0.1. If is the first time you install it or it has factory defaults you will be asked a username and a password. Type admin as username and leave the password field blank.
Now you are in router configuration page. From here you can choose a password to protect your wireless lan and a password to protect router access.

How do I know if my router is lock or not?

what exactly you mean by lock. If you want to know if the ui of the router is password protected or not then you connect the router with the computer using a lan cable. go to dos prompt and do a ipconfig
then note the default gateway and then open internet explorer or firefox and write \\ followed by the gateway ip. usually the gateway is 192.168.1.1 so you write \\192.168.1.1. if the now you are prompt for a username and password and you not able to enter with the username and password that means that your router ui is password protected. by default the username is admin and the password is admin or password or leave it blank.

Can't retrieve WEP code

If the default username and password is not working, try your commonly use username and password coz there's a possibility that you already change it but if it still not working better reset the router.
To reset it juts press and hold teh reset button of the router using a pen then after that you need to reconfigure it back and you should be able to access the setup page of it using "admin" as the username and password.
Hope it helps..

How to protect my belkin 54g wireless connection from intruders. Please help me with that

There is no sure way to stop intruders - if they want to get in they can and will.

However in saying that you can certainly be smarter than the average jo driving around an estate looking for open wireless routers.

First thing first, always change the default password for the router (admin, password). If you can, change the username also (from admin to something else).

Secondly I would recommend that you enable some kind of WPA (or WEP) protection. This basically means that anyone attempting to connect to your wireless will require a "password" to connect to you. The more bits the password has the longer the password is and usally the harder it is to crack (via a brute force attack).

Thirdly - Hide your SSID. All routers by default show to the world they exist. If someone doesnt see it broadcasting generally they wont know its there.

Forthly. I would recommend setting up access lists. On every network card (be it wired or wireless) has a unique identifier called a MAC address. An access list restricts which MAC addresses can physically connect to your router. To find out your mac address click Start - Run. Type CMD. Type IPCONFIG /ALL

Fifthly - This may require a bit more fiddling around between both the router and PC's but may be worth it in the long run. Most routers broadcast whats called DHCP. This is what gives you an internal IP address. If your router allows you setup the DHCP settings to something incorrect EG: Different Subnet mask, DNS settings, Default Gateway. Then setup your home PC's manually to the correct settings. This way if someone does end up cracking your router it will throw another curveball at them as they will not be able to surf the net, view your shared files, without more fiddling.

As far as PC based security goes, I would suggest that you check any shared files or folders you may have and disable, setup how many people can use it at once, permissions etc for them. Best way to check would be Click Start - Run. Type \\127.1.1.0 <- This will connect to your pc via the network.
