I am renting a flat and there are no instructions for the oven, the function symbols are a square with a light at the top, a square w 2 lines and a square with a line at the bottom. To cook I have tried using the one with the botton line (and of course selecting a temperature) but it seems to take a really long time to cook something and food does not brown, if I put on the symbol with 2 lines it looks like the grill is coming on because the element lights up (the fan is going aswell) Is this right?
Definately the control with 2 lines where the fan kicks in. The grill and oven elements will come on. The fan will disperse the heat from the grill element evenly and more quickly inside the oven. You will need to reduce cooking temperatures by about ten percent though,or youll burn your dinner. Also keep food down ,not too close to grill element at top of oven, middle is fine. Hope this helps. Regards..

I believe there is a thermal fuse (also called a TCO or Thermal Cut-Out) located either on the back of the oven, or between the top of the oven and the cooktop that has opened up. Did this happen after running a self-clean cycle?
Locking the oven: Using the main oven function selector, switch 3 x in rapid succession from the 'off' position to the oven light function and back again. - s - is displayed. The oven cannot be unintentionally switched on, e.g. by children. To release the oven, switch 3 x from the 'off' position to the oven light. - s - goes out.

You have reset the timer from the auto function, to the manual function.
You should see a hand symbol showing for manual operation.
It is a question of pressing the buttons in the correct sequence., or if it is a anologue timer, turning the knob until you see the hand symbol showing.
Hope this helps.
