Question about Philips Magnavox 20MC4304 20 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo
Everytime I put a tape in the vcr it plays for two seconds then the entire unit shuts off. When I turn it back on the tape spits out. I try it again and it does the same thing over and over. I can't play anything for more than a few seconds.
The tape player section has some safety sensors inside that will shutdown the system when there is a problem. The most common cause of this is either a bad belt or "idler". If the tape is not moving or the take up side is not moving, this will happen. This is a simple repair for any shop and should runfrom $5-$25 for parts (belt - idler) plus the local labor rate.
