How to remove acer laptop bios password

You'll need to open the laptop and reset the CMOS battery.

I'd recommend doing a search for you make and model for additional details. But in brief:

1. Disconnect power adapter and remove the battery.
2. remove the screws around the hard drive compartment (bottom of laptop) and slide off the cover
3. remove the screws holding hard drive in place and slide out the hard drive
4. Disconnect or remove the small power lead that connects the battery to the mother board.
5. Reconnect and place everything back together.

How do I take apart gateway zx6971 ub31p to install memory

In addition to the two screws on the back, there are also screws under the rubber feet at the bottom. Carefully peel them off so you can stick them back on later.

Next, there are 2 screws behind the optical drive. Open the drive, carefully snap off the bezel, then remove those two screws and close the tray.

Last, you will need to take off the stand. Carefully snap off the plastic hiding the hinge then remove the 3 screws and the stand.

Now you will be able to snap off the entire back of the system. It's not easy but not that hard either. Just go slow, start where any damage won't be visible and work your way around.

Now once that's off, there is a big metal plate covering the motherboard. Remove 12 screws around the plate and it lifts off so you can finally access the 2 ram slots.

It does use standard laptop so-dimms, DDR3.

Water problem

If you want to get the water out you take a chance of destroying the screen. You can take the screen apart but if its in the lcd portion of the screen and not the plastic surrounding it, I would have to say that damage is almost certain. You could look at it this way, if you damage it you probably would have had to get another anyways so heres how to do it. Each model and brand has a different way of getting certain parts off of the laptop so I am going to give you the basics and if you pay attention to what your doing you should be able to get the laptop apart without damage. Unplug your laptop and remove the battery. You should remove the strip of plastic between the keyboard and the LCD lid. Sometimes theres screws that hold this to the computer and sometimes they dont. Once you have the plastic trim removed you shoulld be able to see the Video cable going from the mainboard to the LCD lid. Unplug the cable from the mainboard. If you have WIFI in your laptop there will be 2 wires that go to the wifi card. You should be able to get the LCD out without unplugging these wires and having to rerout the cables when you put it back together. You will need some small Philips screwdrivers. Take the stick on tabs off of the plastic bezel in the screen side of the LCD lid to reveal the bezel screws. Take the screws out and carefully pull the bezel off. There are normally tabs that keep the bezel on as well as the screws. Once the bezel is off then you can get to the screws that hold the LCD in the back cover. You will need to carefully remove the wires from the inverter (normally at the bottom of the LCD) since you dont need to take the inverter off of the LCD back cover most of the time. Once you have the LCD out you can take the tiny screws out of the edges of the LCD. You also should unplug the Video cable from the back of the LCD. Now the only thing holding the layers of the LCD together is some tape. Sometimes its an aluminum tape. and sometimes not but remove the tape from 3 sides leaving the side where the wires are taped. Split the frame apart and you will find that you can get to the different layers of display material. DO NOT PULL THEM OUT! Just lift the layers you have to and wipe clean then blow with compressed air to remove dust. Any dust may show when its put back together. Note: Be carefull because the LCD bulb is located in this area. This is the light that lights up the LCD. If it breaks you will have to buy another LCD. Reverse the process to get the LCD back together and see how it works. I have done what you are asking about to change bad bulbs before. At least the LCD should look better and the worst that could happen is you make the LCD not work and you have to go to ebay and get another. Good luck.

How to fit new dvd/rw drive into a Dell d600 laptop

First, you have to make sure that it is the same size drive and that it will fit into the laptop. Is the new drive a Dell also or another brand? Laptops are not hard to take apart - but there are a LOT of little screws. When you take apart a laptop, you should have paper, pen and tape handy. Draw a rough diagram of your laptop as you disassemble it and then tape the screws to the section that you have removed them from. Otherwise, when you reassemble it, you will have screws just sitting there, looking around, wondering where they should go!

Removing/replacing dvd rom drive

Hi Jerry
I have written down steps on how to remove the DVD-Rom drive for you.
Toshiba notebooks most screws are marked.
F4 - flat-head screw 4mm long
B6 - button-head screw 6mm long
F16 - flat-head screw 16mm long
B8 - button-head screw 8mm long

When you are taking apart a laptop you'll have to deal with lots of screws. Keep everything organized. I keep them in small cups separated easier to find and don’t get lost.
1. Remove the laptop battery
2. Carefully lift off the securing strip at the top of the keyboard.
3. Remove the keyboard securing strip.
4. Remove all screws securing the laptop keyboard.
5. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board. Lift the edges of the connector first and then carefully disconnect the keyboard cable.
6. Remove screws securing the power switch board.
7. Disconnect the USB cable from the system board \motherboard
8. Lift off the power switch board.
9. Remove all screw from the support plate.
10. Remove the DVD drive securing screw.
11. Slide the DVD drive to the right and remove it.
12. Slide in the new DVD drive and follow this backwards.

Hope this helps it is not hard just have to take time an becareful when removing the securing strip at the top of the keyboard to get to screws.

Any questions I will be glad to help answer for you.
