The Envision H170L Monitor VGA cable.

The Envision H170L Monitor doesn't have a replaceable VGA cable. So i was wandering how I would go about cutting and striping the cable to solder the wires together?

The Envision H170L Monitor uses an interface 1.0x VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15). The same VGA cable wildly use in different computer brands..I was wondering why you have not found a replace for that cable. It can be purchase from any computer store.

If you are planning on cutting the wires and solder it together that would be easy if you have the diagrams of the pin numbering for male VGA connector and the female VGA connector. Check first this diagrams and follow strictly the coding of the wire so that it would be successful when connecting it together.

It is also better if after you solder the wire, you will use an shrinkable tube on the connection. Cover the whole sections of interconnected wires with shrinkable tube before you use the vga cable.

Resolution Notice keeps popping up on the monitor frequently. How do I disable / remove that irritating notice?

try lowering your resolution all the way to VGA and work your way up the resolutions. Also try checking your geometry (16:9 or 4:3 for example)

Display probs

Try the monitor on another computer; if it works fine, then the video-card on your computer is the problem.

If it does not work, then it's time to buy a replacement LCD monitor.

I have an Envision H170L monitor that goes dark after a few seconds. I did the flashlight test and could see the desktop. Took the monitor apart and went through the board pretty carefully checking for bad... OR MONITOR

take your plate a part, without desolding anything, reconnect your ccfl's to your invertor , this is how I found that with only 3/4 my monitor ccfl backlights worked. Monitor had classic for 2 seconds and I coud see a windows shadow (I changed my capacitors).my was a kit assembly plate and disassembly easy, light clips and small screws, gentle, movements, set your work bench very clear, tube break, push from the sides where they plugged together always!
I guess from this that the inverter self test check all the ccfl's!
hence the on / check/ off screen (the high power bit, leaving the lower power bit on)

How do you take the base of a envision H170L

Can't find too much info on this monitor. Look for a crease/gap in the plastic around the neck of the stand. Most likely a plastic cover is covering the screws you need to unscrew. You'll probably just have to pop it off.

You may have to first remove the flat part of the base (if looks like it separates from the neck). Check the bottom of the base for tabs or plastic clips holding it to the neck. If the flat part of the base doesn't come off, just look for the plastic covers mentioned above to reveal the screws that are holding the base on.

you can try to reset your display settings... try 640x480 resolution 60Hz refresh rate this can be done in the control panel under display---settings tab..

good luck.if that doesn't work I would just return it and buy a viewsonic LCD here the price was just marked down from $260 to $130 bucks
