SOURCE: My printer wont print, it

Assuming they are the printer brands, brand name and brand new cartridges and you removed the tape which protects the ink cartridge boards and the printer worked perfectly up until now...

...take a pencil and with the eraser, rub the contacts of the cartridge and in where the sit in the printer. If there is ink on them, use a q-tip and without leaving any lint behind dab the ink off. If you need to, use the smallest amount of rubbing alcohol you can on the q-tip to get the ink off. If you have to use alcohol q-tip, do that first then rub with the eraser.

My printer keeps telling me "print cartridge

Hello,
Maybe the contacts where the cartridge sits are dirty. What you can do is remove both cartridges and turn the printer off, pulling the power cable out so that the cartridge holder remain in the change position and you can see it. Then clean the gold contacts with a piece of cotton fabric soaked with medical alcohol. Left the printer turned off for 10-15 minutes so that the contacts become dry. Then turn it on and reinstall the cartridges. This might help.

My HP Officejet 4500 keeps telling my to align my printer cartridges and I have done it several times. After I align them and print something it requires me to align them again.

Try removing the cartridges, closing the printer, and disconnect the power. Let sit for at least 10 minutes, then hook up the power, wait until it stops making noises, the reinstall the cartridges, black first, then color, and if the alignment comes up again, press cancel. This should remove the error.

I have just installed a new colored cartridge in my Lexmark printer (Number 29). My computer keeps telling me that the cartridge needs to be replaced and I cannot print at all. My laptop is Windows...

First make sure you are placing the right
color cartridge into the right slot.
Most Printers are touchy about the
installation of ink cartridges. If the
instructions say to press the cartridge
into the slot until you hear a loud click,
that's what they mean. If at first you
don't succeed, remove the cartridge and
reinsert it into the slot again and press
on it hard till it clicks.
Then your printer should work properly.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Trying to reload color cartridge.

Many brand name printer cartridges have a code that tells the printer they are a new cartridge. Once the cartridge is empty it will never again tell the printer that is it new.

You can refill the cartridge but it will continue to tell the printer that it is empty.

You say you "had my ... cartridges refilled today" so I suggest you go back to the folks who refilled them and ask them for suggestions.

Otherwise, purchase off-brand cartridges that won't tell the printer they're empty and keep refilling them as needed.

Another approach: purchase a new printer that won't give you this problem. I refill my Lexmark cartridges without any problems.

Printer will not align

Print cartridge

When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer cannot detect/communicate with print cartridge.

Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.

1. Open the top cover of the printer.

2. Remove the print cartridges.

3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.

5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

6. Close the top cover.

7. Try printing again.

If you still cant communicate try with new cartridge .

Printer keeps telling me to remove and check left cartridge, which i have done and have installed a new one, with the same message coming up.

I'm not sure if this printer has one but some HP printers have a small ribbon cable that connects to the cartridge holder. There is a small wire spring that holds the cartridge in the holder, however this spring will puncher the ribbon cable rendering the printer useless telling the user to insert a new cartridge. Way to go HP.

I have changed the black ink cartridge and my lexmark 125 keeps telling me to change the black ink cartridgeand I can not get the thing to copy for me. All it does is keep telling to change the black...

After you get the carriage centered to remove the ink, power off the printer. If you replaced the cartridge with a new cartridge check cartridge for tape residual that might be covering the copper contacts. ( you may not be able to see this).
If you use a refill kit. Most printer Mfg's insert a chip in all there ink cartridges. This chip tracks when you remove an empty cartridge through the printer software. So it knows you replaced the same cartridge forcing you to buy another.
You can also clean the copper ink cartridge contacts with some alcohol & cotton swabs. (Careful not to drip excessive alcohol onto the bottom of the cartridge). Clean the carriage contacts as well. Re-place the cartridge & try again.

Luck!
