This can be a failure in the panel itself, or the driver circuits to the panel. It is serviced by factory level diagnostics and board replacements. This take specialized training, tools, and setups to perform.
Considering the set is 5+ years old, it most likely will not be cost effective to service. There is also the possiblilty that the circuit boards may no longer be available. I would suggest to replace the set rather than service it.
When servicing a set with a number of years of use, there are many other components and circuit boards that can potentialy fail. As electronic components age and have use, the posibility of failure increases.

Wow same here but mine is red I know its because of the plasma bulb is wearing out and for my fix is $1000 but I didn't do want to go on so I tried to change the color settings and tried RGB to all 0 and it became fine. Well at least you have a cool blue screen, mine is red.

Check all of your cables on the back of the tv and your sources such as Cable,Sat box and DVD palyer to make sure they are fully inserted into the input and output connectors. Some times Component cables will work loose and you end up with a missing color. Temprature changes can affect intermittant connections. If that does work then you have a bad Main bd.

SOURCE: Samsung 46" TV. Model
This is problem of lcd panel (screen) that is going bad, however, in few tvs, T-Con board was defective that is also part of lcd panel but available separately, t-con board is located on top center of lcd panel at rear side, replace it that might fix tv problem.
Required t-con board is available in ShopJimmy.com for $73 (click the link to view board image and price info) and call local tv repairman to replace it if you are not handy with electronics stuff repair or have no prior experience.
If t-con board replacement does not solve the issue then lcd panel (screen) will be replaced but it would cost you approx new tv price.
Hope these info will help you.
