Drill runs but chuck freewheels - Makita 6337DWDE Cordless Drill

Ha! For me, it took a while with no answer here, until this one maybe. After exhaustive reasearch, and as I was attempting to remove the chuck, I noticed something obviously wrong, but not so obvious that I could see it upon discovery of the problem. The confusion was due to the drill having worked perfectly when i last used it and then didn't when i grabbed it again days later. You see, when i put the drill in the case, i must have bumped the switch that regulates the speed because it was in the position between the two speeds, this the chuck was disengaged. This is not something i am proud of, but I thought someone else might have the same problem in the next 5 to 10 years, so there ya go.

BTW, I advise against ever siphoning gasoline with a vacuum cleaner, but that's a different story. :)

Back chuck.needs to be replaced or maybe update and get a newer drill with more battery power and torque. they get better every year to where you almost need to replace them every 18 months or so to stay current.

Take it to a local engineering sales shop. They are all basically the same and fit into the shaft with a morse taper. You just need the correct taper.

    Chuck will not turn

Make sure the torque selector which is the black ring with numbers and a drill symbol on it behind the chuck is rotated to the drill image for drilling and general purpose use.

How do I take a bit out?

It is a keyless chuck. Put the drill in reverse (chuck should spin to the left when viewed from the back) and hold the main body area of the chuck with your hand while slowly running the drill. The chuck will open (unless it is broke) and release the bit. You do the opposite (slowing running the drill in forward) for tightening a bit in the chuck.

How do you change the different tools on a firestorm black and decker 12v cordless drill.

I am guessing that you need instructions on how to use the chuck.
Put the drill in reverse, grab the chuck with one hand and then run the drill for a moment, this will loosen the chuck so you can insert a new bit into the end.
Be careful to not spin the drill too fast or you may hurt your hand.
To tighten the chuck you simply put the drill in regular/forward mode and grab the chuck while running the drill.

I would clamp chuck in vise and use a chuck key or a Channel Lock Pliers to loosen the chuck.

How do i get the chuck off a makita cordless drill

Most hand-held drills have chucks that screw onto the shaft with a right-hand thread. Reversible drills lock the chuck in place with a left-hand threaded screw inside the chuck. To remove this screw, open the jaws of the chuck all the way and use a screwdriver to back out the screw (turning it clockwise, of course, to loosen it). The easiest way to get the chuck off, once the screw is out, is to chuck the short end of a large Allen wrench into the drill, run the drill backwards at low speed, and let the long end of the Allen wrench bang into a concrete floor or a 2x4 or something until you hear a pop and the chuck just screws off. The impacts seem to loosen stuck threads very well. The problem with my drill was that my clutch was damaged and I couldn't get enough of an impact to loosen the threads. I had to get to the clutch before I could get to the chuck.
