Question about Health & Beauty

1 Answer

Most of the time won't start even with fully charged new batteries. Have checked every obvious thing such as reseating all connections, CB, freewheel micro sw. Sometimes it'll start for no apparent reason and other times there seems to be no way possible to get it to go. Please offer suggestions.

Hi, Neil, It's a small ,Pride Mobility - Sonic model
SERIAL #S4509604089C30. For sidewalk handicap people.
Voltage is getting to some of the controls in the Tiller except there is no voltage on the speed control pot or the lever pot. No voltage is reaching the motor either.
The trouble shooting LED blinks once and then 3 times.
The note for this indication says take it to a certified technician. I am a retired electronics
technician(IBM) but am 89 yrs old and handicapped.
Thanks for your help. Do not have a schematic.

Hi. This has got to be a faulty motor. The brushes either wear down and jam, or if the caps that hold them in place are not tight enough, the brushes arc on to the sides of the brush holders and jam.
Disconnect the motor connector and by using a multi-meter, see if there is a circuit through the motor. Be careful screwing in the brush caps, as they are prone to cracking.
If the brushes need replacing, its probably a good idea to have a serviceman overhaul the motor and fit new bearings as well.
In some cases, this fault, can also be caused by a faulty motor connector.
Good luck. Neil.

I have a 95 honda civic ex,wont start.ran fine yesterday,wont start this morning.battery is fully charged,new cap and rotor.would do u think might b my problem

if it wont turn over 1st check the ground s on the car and the battery 1st. your battery can be fully charged and the car will not start even over night this can happen. then look at the starter. Note: if you have over 109K on the car and the timing belt has never been replaced you will need to have this checked as well.

What cause the car want start even if u jump it it just cleick

Start with the basics, here. Check that battery cables are not loose and are CLEAN, on the battery AND the starter. Beyond that, check the battery charge with a volt meter. Fully charged should be 12.5 volts or higher, you will lose starter spin at 10 volts. If the battery is low, hook it up to a charger and charge it up completely. If you don\'t have a voltmeter, go to the store and buy one. If you\'re going to try and fix things like this, you have to have one. If you can\'t do that, remove the battery and take it to someplace like AutoZone. They will charge and test the battery for free. If you can\'t take the battery out, or don\'t have a friend that can, have the car towed to your mechanic.

Here\'s the thing- I can\'t tell you exactly why, but some cars you just can\'t jump start. Happens more on side mount post type batteries. Because you can\'t jump your car doesn\'t mean it won\'t start with a fully charged battery. Now there are other things that could be wrong with you car, that it won\'t crank over and start for you.....but we begin the diagnosis with the battery.

Ok my 1983 camaro has a v6 in it and every time I want to start it I have to hook it up to a portable battery charger and start it up like that but now it won't even start up. Even when the battery is...

Sounds as though the battery is no good,
unless you know otherwise & also had it tested
Charging a battery doesn't address it's internal
condition
You have battery cables that corrode inside & can be
voltage drop tested
You have the starter & solenoid, ignition sw & such, to name
a few, lots of possible causes & things to check

Check that you are not in freewheel. If you can push the scooter easily and the rear wheels roll then you are in freewheel. Move the lever to drive postion and turn the scooter on to see if that fixed the problem Hope this helps
