2 year old miele dishwasher runs without being turned on.

I have a G2430 Optima Series Miele Dishwasher. it is just over 2 years old. It sounds like the dishwasher is always running. Last week we received an F70 error code message. Took care of that and it worked fine for about 2-3 times now seems to run automatically w/o being turned on.

A F70 fault is the float switch in the base of the unit which is activated due to water in the base. you may have used too much detergent or the wrong detergent causing the unit to over sud or you have a genuine water leak. the continous running noise is the drain pump trying to remove any water.
you need to remove the bottom panel, turn the power off and dry up the water with a towel. then run it again and see if you can see a leak.
hope this helps

I had Miehle tech out yesterday for continuous F70 codes. He could find nothing wrong. I suggested that he pull out the dishwasher for a look see. He kept insisting a soap problem and to not use much. I told him that we always used very little as my wife cleans the dishes throughly before placing them in the washer. He insisted it was a soap problem again and left. He could not recreate the problem.

I told him that he will be back. So today we again went to use the appliance and failure again. I called Miehle again. Told by the tech that took the call that it is a soap problem,,,,,must be in their script.

I told him that likely a failed seal or hose and that dishwasher should be pulled out for a look see. He proceeded to tell me that if it did not fail while their appliance repairman was onsite, there was little that they could do. I suggested then that they replace the dishwasher.

He then told me that a repairman will be at my home again tomorrow between 8 and 5,,,,,which means I get to stay home all day again tomorrow.

I then find this site that gives a dozen possibilities besides a "soap" problem,,,,most of which means pulling the washer forward for a look round back.

Oh yes,,,,my hobby and sport is rebuilding and showing classic cars and riding and repairing my motorcycles,,,,so it's not as if I just fell off a turnip truck when it comes to mechanics,,,,,,it's a dishwasher for god's sake.

So tomorrow we will see what's next,,,,bet it's again a "soap' problem.

Appliance repairman was onsite this AM. As we were discussing the situation, I happened to mention to him that all had been well for 3 years but was now failing. Told him that I had removed top "basket" in order to cleanse the electronic filter element from our Honeywell furnace filter system. I had to remove "basket" for sufficient room to allow this unit to sit properly in the dishwasher.

This set off a light in his head. He told me that he had seen the exact problem a couple of weeks earlier while working on another customers unit.

Turns out that if you remove the top basket, you are also disconnecting the internal propeller that forces water to spray around the dishwasher. This propeller is powered by water pressure that comes from a 1/2 inch tube from the washer itself. When you remove the "basket", this allows more water to fall into the dishwasher and thence overflows into the "tray" at the bottom of the dishwasher,,,thereby raising the plunger setting off the F70 code.

I had mentioned to the online support guy at Miele, my wife had mentioned to the tech that came out a couple of days ago, and both said of no consequence. The only reason that the tech that was here today, was that he had observed this same phenomenon a couple of weeks ago.

In his standard testing the machine was working fine(some of the water from yesterday had evaporated) so the plunger had fallen thereby no F70 code. We then removed the top "basket" and run a cycle as the tech observed with a flashlight under the dishwasher.

In short order, he was able to see water dripping into the overflow pan.

Problem solved in my case. The tech will notify Miele to post this observation to their technical suppport staffs and engineering.

The reason that i had told all 3 techs of removing the "basket" was that the machine had functioned properly for 3 years,,,and it was only when running with the "basket" removed that F70 was noted. I thought possibly a safety switch issue,,,but turns out that was just excess water because of removing basket and the machine could not handle it all without a bit of overflow.

Someone once said: "When you hear hoof beats think horses, not zebras" I had felt strongly that somehow removing this "basket" after 3 years of all ok,,,,was somehow related. LIkely not a common occurence to remove the "basket" so this is why Miele was not aware of this solution.

How do i run a test / diagnostic mode for the bosch sge63e05uc (evolution series) dishwasher?

Are the instructions on how to run the diagnostic test listed in the manual? FYI, I couldn't run the test on my Bosch DW because it was just too broken. Over the years the dishwasher essentially fried its own circuit board with excessive heat, which I learned is a problem common to Bosch DW's. Bosch told me the lifespan of my model was 10 years; mine was 11 years old (but was repaired once or twice). I replaced it with a Miele; no problems yet after 4 1/2 months.

Optima G2430 Miele dishwasher with F13 error

F13 Indicates that you have a water intake fault. The machine is not receiving the the proper amount of water quantity. You could turn off the water supply and disconnect the water inlet hose. There is a filter inside, to remove the filter you have to take out the seal and then you could use a pair of needle nose pliers to take out the filter basket. If the filter is clean you and your water supply is good, you have a problem with your flow meter not registering pulses when the water is taken in.

I have a Miele G2430 and it doesn't drain. I tried the baking soda and vinegar and it doesn't work. Is my pump broken or something? How much will cost to repair it if that's the problem?

Hi Jennyglopez..I do not think your pump is the issue, however you can make this checks.1-Take the filter combination out of the wash cabinet 2-Scoop the water out of the cabinet using a suitable container 3-Press the catch for the non-return valve inwards 4-Lift out the non-return valve and rinse well under running water.5-Remove all foreign objects from then on-return valve and drain pump 6-Carefully replace the non-return valve and secure it with the catch.Ensure that the catch engages correctly. You can also check drain hose &remove any kink in the drainhose.where the drain hose engages under the sink sometime gets clogged.Disengage the pipe & make sure hole in the drainage not clogged. Thanks & goodluck

My Miele Inspira has started squeaking when it runs.

Hi dear.It sounds like your machine have faulty bearing on main wash pump. That bearing can worn out it self or there is a leakage on impeller housing, that leakage can cause harsh chemical to get in to the front bearing of motor & damage it.Your machine should be under warranty, call Miele service in your country.I hope that helps.Thanks.

Optima G2430 Miele dishwasher with intake/drain flashing light

F13 is an inlet fault.
First the unit drains and then fills with water. When the unit has intially drained open the door and manually fill the unit with water, about 5lts. This will then allow the dishwasher to go to the next step which is to circulate the water. If this works ok then the water tap is defective, water inlet valve is defective or the electronic unit is not sending the signal to activate the valve. The water inlet valve is the white square box attached to the tap. Remove this and check the filter and make sure water comes out of the tap.If ok then remove the bottom panel of the unit under the door. On the right hand side there is a 2 core cable with a male and female connector. Unplug this and check for voltage from the electronic when the unit goes to fill with water. If there is 240v then the electronic is ok. You will then need a new waterproof system from Miele.

I have an Miele Optima Series HG03 dishwasher. The dishwasher stops after a minute and the intkae/drain error flashes. I tried everything in the manaual but there is nothing blocking the drain or intake...

try checking the spigot under the sink as quite often the hole has not been opened up enough and there is a shoulder for food to jam up against causing a blockage. Remove the drain hose and have a look in the hole of the u bend.

If ok remove the filter in the base of the unit and remove the non return valve and make sure the drain pump can turn and there is not anything blocking it.

Miele dishwasher g664 12 years old maybe?

Hi Lawrenceo,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

You stated your problem as: the dishwasher won't drain.....can here a valve opening and gurgling but then no water exiting. Have cleaned everything and pushed water via tap back through water-exit hose.I to have a Miele G664 dishwasher and when turned on no water no fill. Just sits there with a moter running. Un able to get anyone to come and have a look at it as I live in Mount Victoria NSW.
It sounds like the pump has failed. The motor and the pump are two different parts. This is a common problem with older units. Frankly, after 12 years of use, at least you got your money's worth. At this age, to repair it is to throw good money after bad. It's time o replace it. You'll find there are much nicer models available now.
