Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore/Frigidaire 41744142300 Front load washer, the cheap one with the mechanical timer push pull type knob. It goes all the way through the cycle and the final spin, but it never stops. it will spin forever if I don,t shut it off. I has to be the timer sticking right?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Yes, you are right. If the washer won’t complete the cycle i.e. if it will fill, wash, drain, spin but the timer won’t advance then it is the Timer that should be replaced
. Please check this link for its parts. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Thats what I thought, but is it possible that the motor control is not suppling voltage to the timer to make it advance?

As I said if the motor control would not have been supplying the voltage then the timer wont even advance after filling the water. Usually in that case the water just fills and drains out and the timer wont even start the cycle, so thats why I think it is the timer.

How can I remove the timer knob from a Frigidaire Washer

Knob PN 131592001 Just looking at replacements it appears to just push on. If pulling on it does not get it off then rotate it CCW in an attempt to unscrew it. Just be VERY careful that the timer stem does not rotate if you turn the knob CCW or you will be buying a new timer. Open the top and hold the stem if you have too. (easier said than done) Worst case... if you have a bad knob and have a replacement knob in hand... break the defective knob. If your changing the timer look at the stem on the new timer. If it is threaded on the end the knob unscrews. If it is not threaded it pulls off.

Model: 110.29822800 Cycle Control knob seems loose. When turn knob clockwise and pull knob, it seems like out of position. For example, I set at Normal, rinse and pull knob. It rinse a minute or two and...

Could be one of two things. The knob or the timer. Both knobs and the timer through sears parts direct are under 100 probably with shipping. If the knob that you pull out and push in does not feel sloppy when you turn it then i would guess timer is faulty.

How do you pull out the timer to a model # 110.26852501

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Washer-Parts/Model-11026852501/0582/0153200?pathTaken=

Then see the following Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers:
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Also see the following for how to release the console.

Depending on the type of timer that you have (See the Whirl[pool manual) you may need to hold the shaft that goes through the timer to the knob with a thin needle nosed pliers in order to un-screw the knob before unbolting the timer.

Older style kenmore top load washer wont do anything....

This machine has an on/off switch built into the timer that is activated when you push/pull the knob.
Either something therein is worn or broken causing this switch to not function. I myself could probably fix this problem and have done so on occasion, but an inexperienced person might find it to be a challenge.
Replacing this timer is expensive unless you can find a used part somewhere.

There should be a spring clip that holds the timer knob on. It or the timer knob may need replaced. Here is a picture of the timer knob and the spring clip. Sure hope this helps and best wishes.
