The motor keeps running but paper stops then error message says paper jam in auto document feeder remove paper jam and try again but it happens every time i've tryed with various different paper types but all the same
You need to replace the document feeder motor the gears on the motor shaft are split and slipping. New motor is 12.72 at http://www.compassmicro.com/parts2.cfm
You do not need to replace the motor... a dab of gel superglue does the trick. Remove the small black gear (there are two of them, check each one for a split in the gear itself) and re-install with a dab of super glue on the inside of the gear. Re-assemble, and wha-la.... it'll work like a champ!
Here is a picture of one of the black gears needing glue;
I have the same problem, but different. I do not think it is the gears. I think it's the rubber rollers and pad. The rubber pad on top feeder had a groove on it. I peeled it off and reversed it. That semi-solved the problem. I was still having an issue until I started scanning greater than 300dpi. The scanner feed process slows down after 300dpi, and the paper slip doesn't occurr. Bad part, files are big and I have to manually reduces them in software. Before you try taking everything apart, peel and reverse this square grey pad and change your scanning quality to anything above 300dpi. The pad is located on the bottom of the entrance of the paper feeder when you open the feeder as if there is a paper jam. Can't miss it.
