Question about Homelite Curved Shaft Trimmer Bump Feed Replacement Line

1 Answer

I have a practically new Homelite String Trimmer (model #UT20006 25cc) that has been sitting in the box in my mother-in-law's closet for over 3 years. It will start up like a charm. Fairly easy to crank in the conventional manner. It will run fine for about 5-10 seconds, then shut off like it's starving for fuel. I can keep it running for a few more seconds by babying the throttle back and forth between half and full choke but it'll die every time. The fuel lines are fine...the fuel pickup is fine...the primer seems to work fine and the spark plug is fine. What in the heck could it be? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!

If all those items you mentioned are ok, then check the Air filter! If it's been sitting around, it may be plugged up or it may have insects that have built nests inside...
Also, there should be a fuel line back to the tank for pressurizing the system... Make sure the gas cap is tight, and the return line is snug in the tank.

I have a MightyLite weed eater - the plastic bobble has a crack. What are my options besides purchasing a new weed eater? Purchased at Home depot.

You don't have to purchase a new one. Parts for it are available. This online parts house is good. If you are saying you need the plastic bubble for the carburetor, it is here.

There are 3 models listed. They are listed in the 4th section of misc. parts and are items 9,10, and 11.
All the other parts for your machine are listed here too:

Homelite trimmer, gas, string - y is the string wrapping itself around the head of the trimmer?

The line on my new 26cc Homelite would also feed out by itself. That started me thinking the line was wound backwards. I wrapped the line in the opposite direction as was shown on the bump feed reel and now the dang thing works although the bump feed needs to be "bumped" pretty hard to work. Is it possible that the reel was manufactured with the (string direction) arrows pointing the wrong direction? The new 26cc unit is also underpowered compared to my older 25cc trimmer.

MY HOMELITE STRING TRIMMER UT21505 PRIMER BULB LEAKS. MY PARTS LIST DOE'S NOT SHOW THIS PART. CAN I PUCHASE IT OR DO I HAVE TO THROW IT AWAY

You can easily get a new primer bulb for it...most small engine repair shops will have what you need, and if you want, you can most likely snag one on Ebay....DON'T THROW IT AWAY, ok?

Correct gas to oil ratio for Homelite Mighty String Trimmer Model

most trimmers are 50:1. or 40:1. i would use synthetic 2 cycle oil and use the 50:1 ratio. i know guys with trimmers that require 50:1, and they use synthetic at 80:1 with no problems for years. they say the engine runs cleaner. i am a part-time lawn care operator.
