There are a variety of trimmer heads out there. Anything I would tell you may not be applicable to your trimmer. Now had you provided a model number I could look it up and pass you the directions. As it is I would just be guessing which trimmer and head you have. I do understand that you have a 4 line trimmer head but there are several models of 4 line trimmer heads also. Some of them you replace the string without removing the head, others you remove the head and double wrap the trimmer line. Yet other models there is more than one spool. (all 4 line trimmer heads) Make and model please. Kelly

If this is your trimmer: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=358791030&productCategoryId=1503820&brandId=0247&brandDescription=CRAFTSMAN&modelName=TRIMMER&diagramPageId=00001&componentDescription=DRIVESHAFT%20HANDLE%20SHIELD&documentId=P0710160&blt=06

The nut is a left handed thread and must be turned clockwise to remove the nut. Then you can remove the spool for rewinding or replacement.

I have the yardworks curved shaft which is virtually identical to yours and it turns clockwise. Unless the straight shaft changes things but I do not think so.

Why does my new Craftsman 4 cycle Trimmer's head turn counter clockwise

Curved shaft trimmers turn clockwise.. straight shaft trimmers turn Counter Clockwise. Also the Bump head is reverse threaded because of the engine rotation.

When using this trimmer , Angle the right side of the string line down so the grass gets thrown in front of you not at your legs.

Torx head screws are down inside the cover. Some people call them "star" screws. With the proper size Torx head screwdriver (T-15 or T-20 I think), you will be able to unscrew the cover.

How do you remove the complete string head from the shaft of a weedeater model 316 795001

The parts diagram above shows part #25, that part located just behind the head should have a small hole in the side about 1/4" diameter. That hole lines up with another hole inside to stop the shaft from turning . You need to line up both holes visually then insert a small phillips screwdriver in through both holes, that will hold the shaft still while you turn the whole head assembly with your hand. When removing the head assembly it should turn counter clock wise, when looking at it from an operating position, meaning that the threads are left handed.

I have a cs30 ryobi weedeater and something in the shaft is causing the weedeater to either stall out or completely shut off, how can i fix this problem?

Usually this is a fuel supply problem. It can be caused by a cracked fuel line, debris in the fuel tank of in the tank to carb fuel connection. If you have a primer bulb a pin hole in the primer bulb or (if so equipped) the line that goes to the primer bulb it will do the same thing. Small air leaks will cause the trimmer to run fine at idle but anytime you demand more speed it just will not speed up or it will stall. Additionally the diaphragm in the carb can also have a small hole or tear in it. (Located under the 4 small screw plate on the carb)

A problem in the shaft is rare unless the shaft itself breaks or the internal flexible drive shaft has a partial break and the spring material is unwinding. If this is the case the flexible drive shaft will have to be replaced. It requires removal of the engine from the curved shaft assy to replace. Once the engine is removed the shaft is supposed to just pull out. WHen installing a new shaft you must make sure the 4 sided drive spline drops into the string head or you an not install the engine correctly. The same goes for the engine to shaft mating area. Align the 4 sided spline.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

if it is cable driven, if the shaft is curved it a cable , the cable is broken.
if it is a straight shaft with a gear box the gears are probably stripped

I have a weedeater brand weedeater and need to know how to take the spool off so I can wind more line on it?

if its the newer type all you need to do is grab the black knob at the bottom of the trimmer head and pull it carefully straight towards you and it should pop off
wind line on the spool in the direction the arrow shows you there is a small hole you put the line in to start the line before you wind it it is labeled .065 or .080
wind about 10-15 feet of either .065 line or .080 line and lock the line in at the edge of the spool and thread the excess thru the hole and push spool back on and pull each line until it unhooks from where you locked it in .
this is the directions to the weedeater heads and spools mostly used on this product.

if its two lines then pull out 20 feet of new line cut it and put the two cut ends side by side and insert the cut ends into their respective holes in the spool and wind in the direction of the arrow until you wind to the loop then cut the loop lock your lines into place and thread it thru both holes keeping the lines kind of tight and push the spool onto the housing as it snaps in pull each line to unlock it from where they were held so the bump feed will work.

hope this helps you
