my Nikon D70 has recently started playing up. when a memory card is inserted the memory card access lamp blinks, the camera functions have slowed dramatically and occasionally stop completely and the menu and playback screens blink on and off.

Have you formatted the respective cards?

If not... have you updated your camera's firmware to version 2.0?
