Try this, first unplug the unit and allow it to discharge, "reset", then you will need a ladder. The correct way to program most of these is to get up next to the programming sensor on the unit itself. I have had done this in both my homes., after spending countless hours trying to do it from the ground. You will see the directions ther but what it comes down to is holding the button on the remote while pressing in the reset on the unit, sometimes it's the reverse, press the button on the unit and hold it till it flashes, the by holding in the button on the remote at the same time or immediatlly therafter it will take the new code. You can check it from up there before getting down off the ladder. It only takse a minute. Otherwise your sensors at the bottom are out of allighnment, they need to make contact with each other to enforce the beam otherwise the flashing will occur. Please check and see if there is a fuse in the sensor also and the unit, Electrical storms can do great amounts of damage, living here in Fl I cannot tell you how many tv's and alarms we have gone through over the years even with the best surge and lightning protection. It is possible that the electricity traveled into the sensor at ground level "especially if there was a lot of water in the area" and just fried it. I hope not, but it would not surprise me. You can try jumping out the circuit untill you resolve the problem. Jusy by shorting the two wires to the sensor should make a completed circuit so the door at least works until you can get it fixd if you need a part. I am sure that home depot or lowes has these or can get you one for a few dollars, thanks and good luck,

Ok when the light flashes just hit the button on the remote. if that doesn't work hold it down and the flashing light should go off. Otherwise you may be right, good luck

Does the wall control not work? Have you checked the house circuit breaker? Is there power to the opener? Motors very rarely go bad. If you have had a power surge or electrical storms I would suspect the logic board. You can pull this board and check for missing traces on the printed circuit.

Garage door only opens from button inside garage not by bour remotes in our cars ( 2 remotes )

FIRST CHECK TO SEE IF THE LOCK/VACATION BUTTON ON THE WALL CONTROL HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. THE LED ON THE WALL CONTROL WILL BE FLASHING. - SIMPLE SOLUTION PUSH THE LOCK BUTTON AND HOLD FOR 2 SECONDS TO TURN OFF LOCK FUNCTION.

SECOND TRY TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTES TO THE UNIT - THEY WILL SOMETIMES LOSE MEMORY IN AN ELECTRICAL STORM.

IF REPROGRAMMING DOESN

The green light on the motor unit is an LED and random flickering is normal. Your problem is most likely caused by an electrical storm or power surge. You will need to remove the logic board from the motor unit and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board especially around the small transformer. Your holding that button in will most likely have erased the memory of the unit and all your remotes will need to be programmed once you find your problem. I really suggest you call an technician at this point.

Replaced batteries.changed codes verified not in lock position checked wiring-checked breakers -remotes dont work have 2 different units-one commercial all stopped working on same day -need help

I have the Same Problem...
2 similar but independent 315MHz Craftsman door openers stopped receiving any remote signals at the exact same time. One hour they worked , next hour they didn't, no storms in area.

I know remotes are good because they still open our subdivision gate. the Only way to open door is with wall pad. Verified that they are not on vacation lock. 5 different remotes, 2 different keypads all no longer open door.
I tried resetting codes with learn button but they won't take new programming. Also before when an unlearned remote was used in the area, the learn light would at least flicker (as if it was receiveng a code, but rejecting it) It no longer even does that.
i even cycled the circuit breaker and the vacation lock, no help.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Chamberlain 1/2hp Operator won't work after electrical storm

Sounds like the circuit board got zapped. You could price a new board or take it apart and check the components if you know how, but normal mortals would just buy a new unit.

Clicking sound - door doesn't open or close

Turn off the breaker for the unit. Set up a good ladder, change the bulb. Release the opener from the door, turn the breaker on, and try the opener while it is disconnected from the door. If it works, give the chain a good spray of wd40, followed by a good spray of chain lube or spray grease. Operate the motor back and forth, spray grease wherever the chain attachment rides the bar. Once it is working good and free, try to connect it to the door and test it. If it has a problem, check your door rollers and hardware.

Craftsman garage door opener trips the GFCI

When garage doors get sticky, bent, and the chain needs lube they will trip the controls. A door may suddenly reverse for no apparent reason, that is friction. A GFCI is real sensitive to load. Also check the wiring to the unit. Any bad connection will upset the GFCI. Check all the way back to the breaker box, sometimes the screws on the wires need to be tightened.

My garage door opener stoped working after a storm.

TRY TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTES TO THE OPENER - THESE UNITS CAN LOSE THE MEMORY DURING STORMS.

I WOULD SUGGEST ADDING A SURGE PROTECTOR AT THE PLUG IN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR UNIT IN THE FUTURE.

It's the gear drive. There are kits online for about $40, if you're semi-handy you can replace it yourself. Search for liftmaster replacement parts.
