What do I need to view my clips on a pc?

When I hook up the camcorder (GZHD7) to my pc, the only options I get is a backup. When I select it, nothing happens. Do I need to install some software on my pc so that this works? I am getting to feel sorry for having to buy this piece. Your help is very much appreciated

You must first backup (download the video files) to your computer before you will be able to view them.
