Question about Samsung NC10-14GW Notebook

ASUS Eee PC will not boot after pressing the power button. I have already taken the battery out, tried ac power only. The indicator lights are on. The computer will not start. I just bought this in January and it was working fine this morning.

The resolution given before has left me with a sore finger and the Netbook in the same situation. The indicator lights still come on, but I don't hear or feel anything going on inside of the computer.

The last resolution indicated trying another power supply - I have a battery pack and a power cord with a Asus Adapter. Which one would be the power supply?

I have tried to hook up another display, and it also was black. The power lights are up and I can get the lights on my Seagate external drive to come up. However, I am not able to get the CD drive or the IR mouse to work in the USB ports. Really weird. I'm still trying to use the solution from my #1 answer.

Hi! On this problem, it could be any hardware issue. It can be the hard drive or the motherboard itself. No display of anything? Hope to know more specially your last activity before the pc crashed. Thanks!

I was in iTunes before I closed it down. Other than that it was just sitting there. I do however, have a tendency to leave it plugged in (with the battery pack) most of the time. That is why the #1 solution sounded like it could be correct.

Alright, If its a power supply issue then there should be no power coming in to the pc but theres still so you can disregard it. If you dont feel any activity inside then it can be a motherboard failure. When it is faulty it wont start at all. I do believe that your pc is still covered with warranty, I suggest that you take it in for service before the warranty voids.

If you dont see any thing on the screen when you turn it on, in this scenario there are two possibilities either the mother board or the lcd screen may have a problem.
Follow these steps to find out the problem :
Turn on the laptop if you dont see any anything on the screen check if you have lights coming on or not, press the caps lock and the num lock key and see if you have any lights coming up, if you get the lights to come up then the motherboard is fine if not then there could be a possibility of mother board failure.
If you get lights to check if the screen is fine or not connect your laptop with an external monitor and then try to turn it on if you get the display on the external monitor it ,means that the lcd needs to be replaced.
apart from this try to re-seat the ram or swipe it and then try to turn it on. This is what you can do.

Try to re-seat the memory (RAM) and see if it works.
Or there is a cable that connects the motherboard and the lcd screen try to re seat that. For this step you will have to open the laptop.
    Be careful while doing it.

Hi. Please do this:
1. Remove the battery and power supply.
2. Press and hold the power button for 60secs. Repeat the step 5 times.
3. Insert the battery and power supply then turn it on.
If still no power, repeat the steps and increase the number of times you pressed and hold the power button.

You may have to do the steps several times. The purpose is to completely drain the electrical charges inside your unit.

Also, power adapter failure is common on Asus EEE PC. If your unit did not power up with the above steps, borrow a power supply and see if your unit will power up with diff power supply.

Welcome to Fixya.

I see that you're having boot issues, here are some other things that you can try :
  • Ensure that the computer is turned off
  • Unplug/disconnect all USB connections
  • Unplug the ac adapter cable
  • Carefully remove the battery
  • Press and hold down on the power button for at least 10 seconds
  • Connect the ac adapter without the battery
  • Turn on the computer
If the above procedure works, then you may reconnect all devices once the computer is up and running. Otherwise, I am recommending a full operating system re install.

I hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

Does it beep at you? Sounds like your PSU is pooped to be honest (unless you get beeps), I would take it to a repair shop and ask for a new power supply unit. Shouldn't set you back too much, don't get ripped off!

Blue power cord light is on, but computer does not power up or charge battery.

you can try the following:
  • Remove the battery and connect just the AC adapter and try to boot up. If it works then install the battery, if not
  • Remove the battery and AC and press the Power button for 30 sec
  • Under the netbook, ( when turned upside down) on the right-side near the windows key sticker you will see small hole use a pin to press this button. This will reset your HW.
First 2 solutions worked for me. I had issue with my battery calibration. After leaving it 24h on the AC all back to normal.
Hope it helps

Hi! Please check the motherboard for blown or corroded capacitors. If the capacitors are faulty it can result to a sudden reset or no boot at all. YOu can determine a blown capacitor if it has a whitish powder on the top or theres a leak on the top. Once replaced you'll be good. Hope this helps and have a good one!

I am not sure what the exact issue happened to ypur computer, if you are not able to turn on the computer then remove the battery and AC adapter from the laptop, not press and hold the power button for 20 sec( No batteery and Adapter), now connect the power cable back to laptop and then try to turn on the computer, still not able to turn on the computer then you consult with local tech or with wantty

I have the identical problem as chrisdangelo

I have read your problem and the solution to your problem may be following.
  • The BIOS setting may have changed. You can reset the BIOS settings.
  • The hard disk type may have changed..look for SATA and ATA.
  • Or your window got corrupt.Reset the BIOS setting and reinstall the windows using boot able CD.
  • if nothing work out then may be your hard disk connector is loose or your hard disk is gone.
thank you
