Question about Frigidaire GLEQ642A Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Frigidaire FEQ332 dryer: I (stupidly) removed the 3 center screws from the inside rear of the drum (in a vain attempt to clean lint from the back) and now I can't get them back in. The dryer is a tight closet (with no easy way of accessing the back) - are the screws essential to the working of the dryer? If so, how do I get them back on without getting the dryer out of the closet (its stacked on a washing machine - so not easy to remove). Thanks for any advice (I'm such an idiot!).

Well first turn the power off without those screws there is a chance you can arc the drum out agianst the element second you have to get at least one screw back in then rotate the drum slowly to line up the other holes do not run without the screws can cause some major damage

you cannt without taking the unit apart if you remove the lid you can grab the back of the barrel and lift up but you might want to get some help unless you have long flexable arms that can reach inside

Unplug the dryer.
Remove the lint filter.
Remove the screws at the lint filter opening.
Pop the lid clips on the left and right front corners of the cabinet.
Rotate the drum counterclockwise until a tumble vane(paddle) is at the 12 o'clock position.
Tighten the screws going through the drum.
Repeat this for the other 2 vanes.
Re-assemble the dryer.

Adjust motor/heating elem to put screws back - Kenmore Dryer 417?

pull them away from the wall and see if you have an access panel in the rear of the dryer. If you do remove it and undo the belt so that you can freely sway the drum in either direction. it may re-align the holes for you to replace the screws if not you'll have to open the dryer possibly by prying the top up and undoind the screws that hold the front panel to the cabinet. from there you should be able to move the drum about to get the scres back in but f you do get it opened take the time to clean it out. Make sure you undo door switch wires before removing front panel.
