Ps3 keeps freezing on me.

This is usually caused by two major conditions.
The first condition being that if the Hard disk is really loaded with data and they are occupying a really large amount of the total disk space. This makes the console to have some kind of extra work to do while loading all the data which you have loaded onto it.
The second most known cause for this issue is as a result of errors in the hard disk or system. It makes it difficult for the system to operate as it should do normally.
Whatever the case may be, you can solve it by doing a hard reset on the PS3 console.
Below is the instruction on how to do a hard reset.

entertainment;kw=;ppos=atf;tile=2;sz=728x90;ord=123456789? Well, i had some major problems w/my PS3 recently locking up and not playing any games/movies. After calling Customer Support, they suggested that i do a hard reset. This did seem to solve my problems, so here is the procedure per Sony CS. I would consider this a last resort troubleshooting procedure.
Hard Reset procedure for the PS3 (as instructed by Sony CS).
Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony.
1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn't detected after initial reset).
4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup).
Hopefully this will solve your freezing problems.

Hope this solution was helpful? Please comment for more information and thank you for using fixya

Playstation 3 hard disk files corrupted???

hey ash,

ps3 Hard drive needs to be manually reformatted and checked for bad sectors.

as what youve said, you already formatted it and yet it still says there is a corrupt system file.

when i say "manually formatted" you have to clearly take the hard drive out and format it using another pc or ps3.

Corrupted hard disk file system

Try doing a quick format on the hard drive since the data is already corrupted. If you can't do a quick format then your going to need to replace the hard drive with another one. Any SATA hard drive will work in that PS3. Just take the old one out and put the new one in, turn on the ps3 and do a quick format on it and your PS3 will be good to go.

Ps3 hard disk file is corrupted

This problem always happen when you switch off your console while it is saving data or reading data from the HDD, so your HDD file system damaged, in order to solve this problem you need an external SATA 2.5 hard disk case, extract your PS3 hard drive and insert it in the SATA 2.5 case, plug your hard dist to a computer, you will find that the whale hard disk is unallocated, so format it with FAT32 or NTFS using your computer, after that return your hard disk to your PS3 console, now, your PS3 console will recognize it, and it will ask you to format it, say YES!!... congratulation your PS3 console is working now

BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA IN THE HARD DISK INCLUDING YOUR SAVES, IMAGES, MOVIES AND ALL YOUR STUFF

Not reading blu ray disc

First off you will need to back up your ps3 system. To do this, first insert a USB memory stick and then go to System Settings and then Backup, then select the USB memory stick. If the backup gives an error then your have too much information on the PS3 so grab the important things such as save data from the game folder.

You can go to saved data and then go to each saved file and press triangle and select copy. If the save data is grouped in folders then you can press square to ungroup the data and then its easier to copy as you will have to do it one by one. If you have any music files or video that is not saved anywhere else then you may want to back that up too.

After all the data is backed up then go to System Settings and select Restore PS3 System (There is also Restore Default Settings just above it but that didn't work for me.) The PS3 will ask to format the Hard Disk. This means everything will be gone (If the backup worked then you can restore it all later but if it did not then you will have to reconfigure your Playstation the way it was. Select Quick Format. The PS3 will restart after a few seconds and will start up the way it did when you first got it. After Configuring the initial setup, insert a game and check to see if it works. If it does then restore the backup if it worked or restore the game saves and other data, then set up the PS3 with your old settings.

If the game does not work then you are going to have to call sony while beside your PS3 and tell them you tried the Restore PS3 System option, have your Receipt from purchase at hand or else you will not be able to arrange an exchange under warranty.

Good luck.
