When you turn it on, do you hear any start up sound? If yes, try to hook an external monitor. If it will have a good display, then what you just need is to replace the LCD. If there is still no display, then it may be a problem with your videocard. motherboard replacement will resolve the issue. But, if you don't hear any sound at all when you turn your computer on, try reformatting or reloading your operating system. It might be that it is corrupted, and just a simple reformat will make it work.

This issue could be due to presence of static charges or internal hardware malfunction of the notebook. To isolate the exact cause of the issue, perform the following steps. Step 1: Hard Reset To perform a hard reset, please follow the steps listed below: 1. Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC and remove from any port replicator or docking station. 2. Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment. 3. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds. 4. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC. 5. Press the power button to turn the notebook PC back on. This will discharge the static charges from the notebook. Now check for the issue. If the issue persists, then remove and reseat the memory modules of the notebook. Step 2: Remove and reseat memory modules From your description, I am not sure of your exact notebook model. As you have selected the product as HP Pavilion dv6000z, I am providing you the service manual for this model and you can refer this for information to remove and reseat the memory modules. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf Refer page no: 128,129 & 130 NOTE: PDF manuals require the Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing. However, if the issue still persists, then it is clear that the issue is due to internal hardware malfunction of the notebook and requires a detailed onsite diagnosis by a service technician. Further, I would like to share that HP has found some reoccurring issues with some of your notebook series PCs and has extended warranty. However, this program has closed for most of the PCs. For more information on this, please refer the web link provided below: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c01611512/en_us/c01087277/loc:1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us If your notebook model is listed under the ?Limited Warranty Service Enhancement Program? then I would suggest you to contact HP support to obtain available options to get your notebook repaired from HP. I believe this information would be helpful to resolve the issue with your notebook.

Laptop wont boot up, black screen, has power

You didn't post the Make, Model of Laptop or the OS you are using. I'll use a Win 7 solution. Boot the Laptop, open the Control Panel, select Power Options, set to High Performance, select Change Plan Settings, set SLEEP to Never, select Change Advanced Power settings, go through the settings , set SLEEP and Hibernate to Never, Power buttons and Lid to shut down. Always shut down and unplug your laptop when not in use to prevent damage from power surges and possible Fire hazard IF the battery malfunctions. A reboot every day will reset the computer.

Black screen when turned onno display

There are several reasons that your Toshiba laptop screen may not come on, even if the laptop appears to be running, and several options you may try to get your screen back up and running without an expensive service call.

Common causes for a blank screen include a backlight that is turned off, a display toggled to an external monitor and improper shutdown errors.

To avoid blank screen errors after your current error is fixed, make sure to follow all instructions in your user's guide to care for your Toshiba computer.

Shine a flashlight directly at your screen and look for an image.

If you see one, this means the backlight on your laptop is off but the screen is still working. This backlight normally turns off only when your screen is closed.

Look for a small metal or plastic pin near one of the screen hinges.

The screen pushes this pin in when it is closed, so if the pin is stuck in the screen closed position, the backlight will remain off.

Tap the pin several times to release it.

You may need to use a small object, such as a pencil tip or straightened paper clip, to reach it on some models.

Monitor Toggle

Press and hold down the "Fn" key if you do not see an image when you use the flashlight.

Tap the "F5" key several times while the "Fn" key is pressed.

This will cycle your screen through the various options that toggle the display to an external monitor.

Attach an external monitor, restart the computer and try this method again if no image appears on the laptop screen.

Click "Start," "Control panel," "Hardware and sound," then "Device manager "using the external monitor if you get an image there but cannot toggle the image back to your LCD.

Select the "Monitor" option to expand your selection and select your LCD monitor from the device list.

Click the "Driver" tab and select "Update" to update the driver, as this error is likely caused by a software driver error.

Force Restart

Press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down completely.

Check the indicator lights at the edge of your laptop to see if the computer is truly off or if it has simply gone into hibernation mode.

If it is off, all lights will be off except the battery-related lights if you have a charger plugged in. In hibernation mode, the power light will blink slowly.

Press the power button to restart the computer again after leaving it off for 15 to 20 seconds. This may fix the problem.

If the blank screen returns or you get a flash of images and then a blank screen, move on to the next step.

Force Power Down

Unplug your laptop from the power source.

Remove the battery by pressing outward on the battery latch and pulling the battery unit completely out of the computer.

Press the power button several times to completely discharge the computer.

Replace the battery and plug the computer back in after about 30 seconds.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

If you get an error screen upon startup, choose to restart Windows normally.

This error is caused by improper shutdown procedures.

Hope this helps

you need to replace the power supply. The fan sound is the fan for the power supply and not the computer. for cheap parts or used goto headgap's. They know what you need and probably even help you replace it yourself.

Toshiba M45-S165 startup issues

This is normally a motherboard issue. I had one with the same symptoms and I had to replace the motherboard. Worked great after the board was replaced. I had to replace the board because unlike your issue mine stopped working all together. It did take a while before it quit though. Just a note: I have had to replace several of these motherboards for customers as well. If your LCD is broken, you may be better off to save your data and put it in a new laptop that would include a warranty unless your super fond of the machine or you have access to inexpensive parts.
Hope this helps...

Won,t drain on rinse cycle

There could be several causes for this, but probably a bad timer. One test for this...when it stops...is to turn it off...and turn the timer slightly clockwise...to the middle of the rinse cycle...and turn it back on. Does it run then?? Try advancing it to the spin cycle after the rinse. If it runs okay after you manually advance the knob...the timer is probably defective.
