Put new piston in motor. it starts and ideals fine but from ideal to hafe throttle after letting clutch out it boggs down and dies but from hafe to full throttle runs fine

Did you make sure the piston rings and oil ring gaps were not all lined up? Did you make sure the correct gap was achieved on those rings?

You have a carburetor problem, suggest u rebuild it, the main jet is plugged i suspect with a piece of dirt.

    tryed two differant carbraters and it did same thing. it dose have adjustable main jet and no idea were. it should be set

    check and make sure u have a clean fuel supply, because this is a crab problem, and there is no such thing as an adjustable main jet, it is a piece of brass with a hole drilled in it that screws into a well in the carb body inside the float chamber, both these carbs where rebuilt and inspected?

    have tryed two others and they did SAME THING BUT IT DOSE HAVE AN Adjusatable main jet and i have no idea WHAT SETTING IS NEEDED.

    turn it so it is richer, a jet is a fixed orifice, so think we have a communication problem here, done 100's of carbs , was the carb cleaned with carb spray and compressed air? is the fuel supply clean and from contamination? u are sure of this.

I let the clutch out the motor wont run

The motor wont run or the car will not move ?? If the car will not move sound like its time for a new clutch . If the engine is stalling out you might need to raise your ideal speed or let your clutch out slower and give a little ore gas.

Can't get the ideal set right

Is the exhaust converter over 12 years old
& restricted

How about mechanical timing of motor

Low idle- you check engine vacuum & timing,
as well as ignition timing

Have to stay with the so called old school basics
people seem to forget about

How about vacuum leaks,fuel pressure,battery
voltage,alternator problems

It all effects todays electronic vehicle systems

Vanguard V Twin 18 hp. monted in Cushman Motor scooter, runs great at W.O.T and at on quarter throttle, misses at range inbetween

Sounds like your carb needs the fuel/air mix adjusted..uses all the gas at high speed but has excess at low speeds...find your adjusting screw and at med throttle slowly screw it clockwise until the engine starts to sputter then back it out until it starts to sputter again then continue to do this until you reach ideal mix where it runs the best it can..then go slowly through the throttle up and down..when set..unjust your idle speed screw to your ideal idle speed..if this dies not fix ..carb will bed cleaned or rebuilt. Good luck.. Note always push or pull your throttle handle slowly to position avoids gas load up causing sputter and backfire.

My 1999 crown victoria has been dieing when at ideal somtimes has rough ideal, but runs good when im driving, and the ideal will go to normal if i put it in neutral at stops. and somedays it just runs...

p1409 is a fault code fo the stepper motor in the EGR-usually they get dirty from carbon and you need to remove the EGR and clean it with throttle body cleaner. This egr (exhaust gas recirculation) stepper motor code is best checked by physically having a look at the bottom of the egr stepper motor. When the vehicle engine has a lot of mileage, a carbon build up will occur at the pintle rod at the bottom of the motor and make the exhaust gas passage difficult causing the code. When removed, the carbon can be clean and pintle rod freed up so that it moves. Yours is stuck open, causing poor idle since it is introducing exhaust gas into the intake manifold during idle, which if operating properly it will not do at all.

2004 Honda, 1100 Shadow Spirit, starts fine, ideals fine, but when I put it in gear it dies

1. Faulty wiring to any safety switch.
2. Safety switches loose at the mounting point.
3. Faulty kickstand safety switch.
4. Failed kickstand safety switch circuit diode.
5. Stretched side stand spring.
6. Side stand not coming up far enough to disengage switch.
7. Faulty clutch lever safety switch.
8. Faulty neutral safety switch.
9. Clutch not properly adjusted.
10. Clutch plates sticking, forward lurch

I have a poulan pro trimmer, it wont stay running

First of all, YES. boggs is a word in my dictionary. Remove the muffler and carefully take it apart. Pay close attention as to how it comes apart because it is vary important it goes back the same way. you will probable find that it is clogged. If it is then remove the debree. If it isn't then you will have to adjust the fuel mixture screw. First start the trimmer, then let it run for a few minutes to warm up, then gently turn the screw a little bit at a time counter clockwise first, squeezing the throttle inbetween adjustments . If it starts to take off then fine tune it untile your happy. If it boggs worse then turn it clockwise.

But first check the muffler.
