I have the same problem, but service centres here in Zambia cannot work out the problem. It seems okay for a while if you turn down the fridge setting, but then after a while defrosts itself again.

We had the similar problems with our WBM35. The alarm was sounding and three lights flashing, mainly in the mornings. Temperature control was erratic. Opening and shutting the doors seemed to have an effect on how often the alarm came up. Initially I thought that three lights flashing indicated the Freezer Door fault code but you must press the Alarm Off button while the leds are still flashing to get the actual Fault Code that caused the alarm. See 3.2.7 – Alarm System of the service manual that can be downloaded at (thanks Redbeard99). When I pressed the alarm reset button on while the 3 lights were flashing only the MAX led came on solid indicating Fault: Freezer Temperature over 0o C. I had already changed the Potency Module and Interface Card with no success. The problem was finally fixed by replacing the Temp Sensor. The new sensor part number is “Sensor Kit Temperature – code 326.005.854” and it should cost around $36. Quite simple to fit. I wish that I had correctly understood the way to read the fault codes and I may have changed the sensor first. Fridge has been running well for over 3 weeks now.

If motor makes strange noise intermittently, then a bearing has probably broken in the motor.
time for a new fride as it will cost more to repair.
mine lasted 7 years then did this.

My Whirlpool WBM35LW constantly beeps as SOON as i open either the fridge or freezer door..

The problem may be caused by lower than normal freezer temp. Is your fridge in the sun at all? If so move it. Also refrigerating gas may be lower than should be. But I doubt that. I would most expect either lever switch on door . or thermostat/temp control switch. if it is temp control thermo problem you would likely notice intermittent variations in food coldness in freezer . ( sometimes very frozen some times beginning to defrost.. Hope this helps.

The freezer keeps defrosting and re-freezing again

First you need to remove plastic cover inside freezer compartment back wall at the bottom and check for build up of frost in the freezing unit if so your defrost system is faulty

Whirlpool WBM46 faulty module

I know this is an old thread, but just in case people, like myself, are still looking
It is a 450V 2uF Capacitor that causes the issue. It is used as part of a divider circuit and as it fails, it creates a situation where the board can not supply the correct power so when the compressor, fan and light run together the fridge literally turns on and off repeatedly. The capacitor is on the Potency Module. This fails over time, the capacitor dries out, and that causes the issue.
This fridge model, including all variants of WBM35 and WBM46 (that I know of) has a Magnetic door switch for the interior lighting and fan control, so there is no lever or anything to hold in or tape in.
The Potency Module is easy to replace as a complete unit, it is on the lower left side of the rear of the fridge. There is 1 screw to remove (hex head) to release the metal cover and two screws that hold the potency module in place.
The cabling is keyed so will only go back on the one way. Cables are firmly connected, but just pull out. Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable when you unplug it (this goes to the interface board which is at the front of the fridge, with the two buttons and lights).
The Potency module as a complete part is available still (as of me writing this) but varies from $180 to $400 depending where you source it from. It's fairly easy to remove and replace if you have a little knowledge. If you get a tradie in to fix it, then it will not be worth it on the smaller models such as WBM35's as a new fridge would be cheaper.

I have a whirlpool upright fridge freezer. I want

Switch to fridge off. If you have a household fan, or pedestal fan, you can open the door, remove all the drawers and food, place the fan pointing toward the cabinet. It will defrost in minutes without damaging anything. Just remember that there will be water so you need to mop it up or put a thin container near the front where it runs out. Do not use any sharp object to loosen ice, you can puncture the refrigerant tubing.

Fridge does not get cold, lights are flashing and whoo whoo noise

Lights which previously did not flash but now do are clear indicators of operating failure.
Refridgerators and freezers do not like being unplugged for too long. if yours has been disconnected from the power for more than a couple of days, it could be damaged and need part replacement.
The variables are cold leakage, cooling gas leakage, electrical pump failure, thermostat circuit open, thermal cut-off switch disconnected. All of the above can be dangerous - electricity, gas, over-working pump etc. so always remember what we learned in kindergarten - If in doubt don't' - good advice with anything risky.
If you set the fridge on the coldest setting, place a common thermometer inside, note the initial temperature after closing the door for 15 minutes and then leave the fridge door closed overnight, in the morning carefully touch the heat transfer coils at the back, they should be hot all over to the touch. Open the door and check if the temperature has dropped.
If the whoo whoo noise is coming from the pump (often located in a black closed saucepan-sized unit you need to contact a qualified Whirlpool fitter.
If the whoo whoo noise is coming from around the edge of the door, the airtight seal is possibly defective. The seals often get dust etc. trapped in the accordian-like sealing strips around the entire door so, being careful not to damage the seal, clean the inner grooves - an old toothbrush and household cleaner generally work well.
If the fridge is a self-defrosting type, the lights may be indicating that it is stuck in defrost mode - check the Whirlpool website for troubleshooting temperature settings. There is often a small regulator switch which can break down. If you think that this is where the noise is coming from do not go fiddling about - electricity is a to be treated with care. Look for scorch marks or listen for crackling noise indicating a short sparking. Unplug the fridge before poking around the wires. A connector may have been dislodged and needs to be reattached so double-check that the power is off before reattaching the loose wire. It should be obvious where it plugs in but if not, don't go touching different tabs.
Re-read the installation and operating manual or call a fridge repair service if you are unable to find the fault. You can save time and repair costs by telling the repair person what you have tested and the results.
The built-in thermostat could be malfunctioning and preventing the coolant coils to absorb heat.
Sometimes the defrost drip tube can become blocked. This generally runs down the back into a drip tray. You should be able to check for blockage by thoroughly cleaning the tray end of the tube and blowing through it. Don't ****.
I hope this helps,
