Pool vac.

Is it getting enough suction? What type and size of pump is on the pool? If you have Intex or similar those are not strong enough to run a cleaner. Check your filter to make sure it is not clogged. The flow of water through the unit is what holds it to the floor.

Everything seems to be working fine, good suction, new shoes, flaps, A-frame, etc. But as soon as the vac hits to floor of the pool NOTHING.

I am going to presume you are a seasoned user of this style of cleaner? If not, then a common mistake that new users make, is a simple fix. Understand that water flow via suction, will take the path of "Least Resistance"! Check to see & ensure if any other port of suction is closed down, you need the 'majority' of the suction (75% or more) to be at the port where the pool-vac hose is plugged into.

I have a Max-Flow pump SP2810X15 & Star Clear plus Filter C17502 My problem is that I don't have very much of an intake pressure and very little out flow pressure , is this pump big enough for the...

The problem with sizing between a pump and a filter is if you have too big a pump it can damage the filter. The pump should more be sized according to size of the pool and therefore if the turnover rate is good enough. If you are getting adequate cleaning and chlorination with this pump then it is just fine. On the other hand you could have a problem with the system. The filter could be in need of cleaning, air could be getting into the suction, or the pump impeller could be plugged, etc.

I hope this helps.

My pool filter pump will not self-prime after I change the filter.

Make sure the pump pot has enough water in it to make the pump **** the water up the suction line.there isn't anything clogging the suction line? Make sure there isn't anything restricting the flow of water to the suction

I have a model 109163. I'm trying to pump water from a creek. The suction hose is about 6 ft below the pump and 12ft long. The output hose is running about 300 ft at a gradual incline to about 10 ft. My...

In order for the pump to **** up water, it must discharge air. Try this. Install a hose bibb (faucet) in the discharge line over top of the pump. Fill the pump housing with water, turn on the pump and open the hose bibb/faucet until full water flow is established. Almost all air should be out of the pump and suction line at this time. Now when you close the hose bibb/faucet, the pump will have plenty of pressure to fill the long discharge line.
Suction line should be 2-1/2 inch if that is the pump suction size.
What size is your discharge line?
There should be a check valve/foot valve on the end of the line in the creek to keep water in the pump once it is primed.

No suction for pool vac

If you are not getting any suction to the vacuum, but the pump is working fine the rest of the time, start by checking all of your connections that conncets the cleaner to the filter and pump. Make sure there are no cracks, lose hoses, etc. Then, check for the following common problems with your pump that might cause low pressure in pool pumps:

1) Pump not primed

2) Leakage of air into suction system

3) Impeller clogged

4) Valve in suction or discharge line partly closed; Suction or discharge

line partly plugged or too small.

5) Plugged basket in skimmer or hair in lint strainer

6) Dirty filter.

Leaves in the skimmer line and its plugged

Is the obstruction on hte suction side or supply side of the pump?

Either way, you can disconnect the pump, and work from there. If the pump was installed correctly there shgould be unions ( fitting that can be reconnected on the pump suction and supply. If not, you can cut the pipes a few inches from the pump and then shorten the remainder to acomodate the length of the union. Glue these in place follow the instructions on the glue can.

Try using a water hose with the water on from the direction of the pump to the pool. see if this does the job. Leaves should be able to be pulled through by the oumop, I suspect somthing larger. Do you have a strainer on the suction line? Have you checked the pool filter?

I would check the filter first. Why do you think the problem is a clogged line? How do you know the pump is performing? Does it run a Spa, and nbot the pool?
