WHAT ARE THE NEWEST AND LONG LASTING BATTERIES I CAN BUY FOR MY MOBILITY SCOOTER. I WANT TO TRAVEL FARTHER THAN THE 20 MILES WITHOUT RECHARGING THE BATTERIES. ALSO I WOULD LIKE THEM TO BE SMALL AND LIGHT WEIGHT. 24 VOLTS I'M USING TWO 12 VOLT BATTERIES NOW , VERY HEAVY. BUT MOSTLY DISTANCE IS MY MAIN CONCERN , NO MATTER HOW HEAVY.

Hi. When you are looking for good quality batteries, they will have a 1 year warranty on them. If you get offered only a six month warranty, don't buy them. Good batteries weigh more than cheaper batteries, because they have more lead in them.
To get a good distance, you need to fit the biggest batteries that will physically fit in your machine.
Batteries are designed to handle a certain number of "charging cycles". If you run a battery down by approx 75%, you will only get a small number of "charging cycles". If you only use 25% of the batteries capacity, you will get 100's of charging cycles.
Gel batteries seem to be the better choice. Most AGM sealed batteries are designed to be stand-by batteries. They will work fine in your machine but only for light use. I have seen these batteries last for 7 years, but only for light use.
Good luck. Neil.

Battery fully charged but the meter on the scooter goes to red

Worn out batteries will behave just like this. New Batteries must be broke in. I know no one probably told you this before. They do make money on selling batteries. For the first 20 charges, do not let the power level go below half way before recharging! no matter how little you use the scooter charge it every time you use it or once a month. Batteries used out side in the winter will not have the capacity of warm batteries when the batteries are at 0 degrees Fahrenheit the capacity will be only 40% of warm ones. to get the best results charge warm batteries.

Battery Not Holding a Charge

Mobility scooter batteries can encounter problems, as over time, these batteries age and lose some of their effectiveness, until eventually they stop working completely. In this case, battery replacement represents the only thing that owners can do to fix the problem. Before doing so, however, they should perform some other troubleshooting measures to make sure. For collapsible scooters, seat the battery properly when unfolding the scooter for use. Owners should also make sure to properly connect the battery, while also looking for any error messages or flashing lights displayed on the scooter's dashboard.

I have a go go elite traveller plus , the battery pack will not lift off my scooter it seems to be stuck , i need to replace the batteries

The manual for this scooter is at http://www.discovermymobility.com/store/scooters/summit-scooters/elite-portable-scooter/manual.pdf
The closest info I can find is page 14. MOVING AND TRANSPORTING YOUR Easy Travel Elite
6.1. Moving Your Easy Travel Elite in Freewheel Mode when unfolded:
The Freewheel switch (Fig. 1/17) is used for releasing the brake and moving the Easy Travel Elite without operating the motor. Before activating, make sure your Easy Travel Elite is switched on. Turn Freewheel switch to the "freewheel" position and push or pull the Easy Travel Elite manually.
NOTE: The Freewheel mode can only be activated after the battery is in place and the power switch (Fig.9/1) is turned on. Doing otherwise will cause a fault situation indicated by rapid flashing of the Indicator light (Fig. 9/4). See section 4.2.
WARNING: The Freewheel switch should never be engaged on a slope.
CAUTION: The seat back must remain in the upright position.

They seem to assume removal is obvious, I would check any connections from battery to scooter are pulled out and that freewheel mode is not engaged.

How long does the scooter charge generaly last?

You should be able to travel a couple of miles and return on a full charge. Of course the slower speed you select to use when you travel will increase the distance some. Hope this helps

Batteries die fast on my mobility scooter.

Hi. What size batteries you buy will be limited to the amount of room you have in the machine.
17 amp hour batteries are really a bit small for any mobility equipement. A lot of power chairs have 35 or 40 amp/hour batteries.
Buy the biggest that will fit into the available space.
Batteries are designed to perform a certain number of "charge cycles". If you run your batteries down by 75%, you will only get a small number of "charge cycles". If you only use 25% of the batteries capacity, you will get 100's of "charge cycles".
The best I have seen is 7 years out of a set of batteries. Short trips and recharging after each trip is the reason.
    Good luck. Neil.
