Question about Kenmore 23313 Whispertone Bagged Canister Vacuum

1 Answer

I have an old Progressive vacuum cleaner that says "Hepa Filter" and "Whisper Belt". Not sure what the model # is. The problem is that the vacuum part itself (the part that touches the floor and rolls over) has ejected its filter that we can see through the little window- it just came out under the rollers under the device... we cannot see how to re-insert this piece of filter which looks like a kind of round, flat grey foam/fabric and clearly goes inside- (top of the part that touches the floor and that we can see from above)== how to replace??

Check this procedure:

  1. Unplug the appliance that you will be changing the filter in.
  2. Open the filter cover. On most appliances, the location of the HEPA filter will be clearly marked as it is a major selling point of the appliance. If your HEPA filter is not clearly marked, check the manual that came with your appliance to find its location.
  3. Rip your paper bag so that you can open it flat. It should be large enough when open to completely cover the HEPA filter. Hold the paper bag to the HEPA filter (so you do not touch it with your hands) and gently pry the HEPA filter from its holder with a flat-head screwdriver. The idea is that any dust or mold that comes free will stick to the paper bag and not your skin.
  4. Pull the old HEPA filter out while wrapping the paper bag around it. Discard it in the trash outside the building.
  5. Unwrap your new HEPA filter and press it into the holder in the appliance. Make sure the arrows imprinted on the casing of your HEPA filter face into the appliance. Replace the cover and you are done.

Good luck.

The belt is worn/stretched to the point that it cannot take the load on low level setting due to more resistance against the carpet and there is also no signifagant difference between the two belts except for expecting a longer belt life from the whisper belt. While it is apart make sure there is no hair or carpet strands in the rollers and around the belt pulleys

The arrows in this case should point out of the machine. not into the machine. This is because you want the black rubber seal to seal on the machine and force the air through the filter.

Good luck.

MY RAINBOW VACUUM HAS LOST SUCTION POWER AND i DON'T KNOW WHY

Your Rainbow E series has lost suction power, because you need a new hepa filter, ot your water basin gasket is messed up, or the center motor gasket is messed up or out of position.

Make sure your water basin is not cracked or broken, also.

If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

Thank you,

Kenmore canister vacuum will not turn on

No, the only effect of not cleaning them would be decreased air flow and consequently . The time between changing filters depends on how much the vacuum cleaner is used. Common failures are damaged cords and a damaged or failed power switch

Kenmore progressive 360 vacuum cleaner has low suction

Check the tube that leads down to the brush head for clogging as well as any motor or HEPA filters. If that still shows nothing, take the cover off the brush head (like you're changing the belt) and look for obstructions in there. Usually, if you have low suction on the accessory hose, the problem is with a motor filter, HEPA filter, or a clog where the hose goes into the unit. If you have good suction on the accessory hose but none on the floor, it's usually in the brush head (clog or broken belt) Good luck

My vacuum came with a sponge over the filter and the directions said I could wash the filter. Do the directions mean to wash the black sponge or the actual filter? Is the sponge part of the filter or is it trash?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Typically the top filter of which is the sponge is washable but the HEPA filter is not, it can be brushed off and vacuum off with another vacuum, but the best filtration is to replace the HEPA filter and to wash the sponge filter, if the sponge filter get to bad then replace the sponge filter as well. Or, you can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the manufacturer’s website and or phone #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
