Sometimes debris can block the intake port of the pump. To check, remove the strainer basket and reach in to the bottom of the basin, and check to see if there is debris jammed in the intake of the pump.
Also take the end cap off the motor end of the pump and with a crescent wrench turn the motor shaft back and forth to loosen it up.
This will dislodge the debris and you may be able to bump the switch to get the motor to spin free.
This will get alot of the debris blown out (if the motor isn't frozen up) .
If you want to do a complete cleaning, it's possible to separate the motor from the pump housing and give it a complete cleanout. Be sure to look for the mini allen screws that hold the inner piece to the motor...they're hard to see.
Hope this helps your situation... It may save bucks!

The machine will wash but will not spin the program keeps running but when it comes to the spin cycle it will not spin but the timer keeps going

Hi Christine - Often when a unit does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage hose/pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair the unit.

Final spin cycle I get sud error code or f2, water mostly drained but no spin. When I restart the spin cycle just starts to spin then stops, sounds like it drains some more water then makes a small...

Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is

running. • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects • If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump

The motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If "Sud" is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.

Kenmore 70 Series Washing Machine Just Hums (Won't Agitate)

First, see the Sears Parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.22712100

Also see the Whirlpool / Kenmore service manual.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Initial thoughts are a worn/broken motor coupler.

See the following for how to get to it and check it.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=135&osCsid=6019c5e82bfa177df953f5d6ebeac983

Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive washers use a "Motor Coupler" between the motor and transmission.

It's used as a fail safe device and consists of three parts.

Two of the parts are the same, plastic units with three prongs that fit on one of the motor output shafts and the other on the transmission input shaft. Between them is a rubber piece with six holes.

It's possible that the prongs have broken and the humming that you hear is the pieces rubbing against the center rubber piece.

The power from the motor is transmitted through the rubber piece to the transmission.

The other shaft on the motor directly drives the pump.

If the motor coupler is broken, or worn, the motor may not be able to send full power to the transmission for agitating or spinning.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet, pump, motor and motor mounting plate to inspect and replace the motor coupler.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

If the coupler looks damaged, it's a relatively easy fix.

Pry the plastic pieces from the motor and transmission. Some people use a claw hammer but I've found that using a small (6 inch) pry bar works well.

Carefully fit the plastic pieces over the motor and transmission shafts and press them in place (Use a 1/2" of larger socket to put pressure equally around the pieces.

Put the rubber piece on the transmission plastic piece.

Replace the motor mounting plate.

Carefully line up the plastic prongs on the motor based plastic piece to the three un-used holes in the rubber piece. If they don't line up right, the coupler could be damaged.

Mount the motor, don't forget the two screws, put the pump back on the motor and use its' clips.

Put the cabinet back on, don't forget to plug the lid switch back in and re-mount the console.

Air on heat pump not cool outside unit humming but not kicking on

This could be an inoperative condenser fan.System will kick off on high pressure without proper air flow. The hum indicates voltage is present. Providing the fan motor is not locked up and will spin,Check your run capacitor which helps boost the motor voltage initially and will get it turning. If the cap is good, you may be faced with motor replacement....good luck

Filter hums when turned on will not kick on

Your motor is what is termed as "locked up" This is a term to describe either a motor armature which will not spin because of a mechanical or electrical problem. Electrical issues can sometimes be easy to fix.

If the start capacitor is bad, it simply needs replaced in order to fix your problem. Most all pool pumps have a Start capacitor located in a small metal *** attached to the motor. You will either need to have a capcitance tester to see if the capacitor is bad, or buy one and replace it if you have money to burn.

I say that because the problem causing the hum could also be due to a mechancical failure, and not so easy to fix. If the bearings in the motor are run down, seazed or damaged, the motor will just hum and not pump. same result ( humming motor)... different reason. Most electricians or air conditioning or mechanical service companies could test the motor and suggest which repair is needed.
