Question about Abacus Concepts Abacus Smart Watch 2006 Modern Metal

Open Question

The watch does not receive a signal, unless I attach a long (60 inch) wire as an extra antenna. (too weird to wear that way). Could this be a physical problem with the band?

Make sure that you have the TV tuner set up to receive ATSC (digital) signals via "Off Air" or "Antenna". Having it set to the "Cable Ready" mode will only get you Ch 2 - 13. These settings are usually available in set up and may even allow the TV to scan for available channels, etc.

Will not receive signal

If you are in the US or Canada the signal is coming from Fort-Collins, Colorado. If you are too far or there are atmospheric perturbations along the way, at the times the watch is in automatic receive , the watch may not receive a strong enough signal to synchronize itself with the atomic clock signal. The watch is not always able to do so.
Read the manual where it is suggested that you put the watch on a window sill, the dial facing outward with 12 at the bottom. Do not move the watch when it is trying to receive a signal. If you have a signal strength meter, orient the watch so that the signal is as high as possible.

Seconds hand not moving

The roles haven't been reversed. The seconds hand for normal timekeeping is the small one and the chronograph timer seconds hand is the large one. The reason for that is that it is much easier to determine the precise second with the larger hand. It working exactly as it should. If you like having the large second hand moving all the time you will not hurt the watch by leaving it running. All chronographs work this way. Nice watch - wear it well!

G-Shock Atomic Solar watch - ERR in atomic time keeping

The watch will set itself at specific time set times, this is likely to be at 0200 0400 and 0600.
You will however be required to set the time zone, the switch is likely to be on the back.

I have a Movado Eliro Men's Black Dial Steel Watch which I received as a gift about three years ago. It stops running whenever I wear it. If I take it off and let it sit for a few hours...it starts...

It sounds like some portion of the circuitry has 'gone thermal.' As a test, set the watch in a sunny place and allow it to get warm; if it again stops, then the quartz oscillator section has become sensitive to minor increases in temperature.
This is not a DIY situation since the major part of the circuit will be on one IC and because of size and proprietary nature of it, it will require a pro to remove and replace it.
As a better watch, it might be worth repairing and I would check the manufacturer's website to see if they offer repairs; some better companies will do this free to protect their reputation.

How do i put on the wave ceptor ?

This depends on what you mean by your question.
To adjust the size of the band, if you look on the inside of the links (the side that goes against your wrist), you will find that at each link joint, there is a spring-pin (like the traditional pins for attaching bands to watches) which can be easily removed.  Remove the necessary number of links to size the band to your wrist.
To put the watch on your wrist, merely position it as desired, and, close the clasp by grasping the outer buckle with your fingers, placing your thumb against the mid-segment, and squeezing the two together. Then, move that assemblage upwards toward your wrist.  Move your thumb out of the way as it approaches closure and push it together until the outer buckle clasp clicks into place around the stud on the inner segment.
If you are asking how to get the watch to receive the time from WWVB, this will happen automatically once per day (three attempts per day until one is successful).  If you want to manually trigger an attempt, this can be accomplished by holding the "RECEIVE" button for a few seconds until the watch beeps and the display reads "RC!".  It will then attempt to receive the signal from WWVB for several minutes and calibrate if successful.
You can identify whether the last synchronization attempt was successful or not by the display in the lower right corner while the time is displayed.  It will show an antenna and three bar-graph segments if it was successful, or, be blank if it was unsuccessful.
If you mean something else by "put on the waveceptor", I'm afraid I don't understand your question.
