SOURCE: restore factory settings

You need to do a new windows setup, erasing completely existing system. I do not know if you can do this from Vista upgrade. You may need to install from a bootable Windows setup disk first, and then install vista upgrade. Once you install the system you may need to download drivers. Here is Toshiba drivers page.

regards.

There's a couple of things you can do:

Press the F2 key to enter the BOIS setup and reset those defaults

and/or

Use the driver disc. It writes a complete image on the hard drive with all the drivers.

How to repair a satellite toshiba p205-s7806 disk error

Toshiba won't sell you a Factory disk? ODD? If it's a HDD failure or a hardware failure, a Restore/Recovery will not help. If you have Restore turned on, restore to a date before this issue. If you have a Factory Recovery Partition, you can do a System Recovery, keep in mind ALL your data will be lost. You can find a Restore/Recovery procedure here: http://www.ehow.com/how_8012461_toshiba-p205-recovery.html

HOW DO I RESTORE TO FACTORY WITHOUT DISK

You need to have the recovery disks (2 disks) so that you can do that since the OS needs to be reloaded including the original programs and drivers, from the second disk. The first one is for erasing your HDD's contents. You need to check if you have the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator program. If you do, that means your HDD has a hidden partition and you are able to create your own recovery disks. Hope this helps. Thank you.
