This might be because the printer you are using does not support the Post Card printing.
Though you can try the Universal Drivers.

To install the Universal Drivers, perform the steps given below.

It may depend on operating system to operating system(I am posting with XP)

On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click Run , type control printers in the Open: box, and then press Enter . The Printers and Faxes window appears.
Under Printer Tasks on the left, click Add a printer . The Add Printer Wizard appears.
Click Next .
Select Local printer attached to this computer, and be sure the box under this selection is not checked.
Select USB001 for the printer port, and then click Next . The Install Printer Software dialog box appears.
Under Manufacturer , click HP , under Printers , click hp deskjet 990c , and then click Next . The Name Your Printer dialog box appears.
Use the default printer name, click No next to Do you want to use this printer as the default printer? , and then click Next .
Click Do not share this printer , and then click Next .
Click Finish to complete the setup.

What's the best paper to use in printing postcards?

I've been printing postcards for like five years now. And based on my experience, the best way to go about that is to print postcards using sturdy cardboard stocks coated on both sides for a high-gloss surface. This medium is best for shipping and for advertising purposes.

I need to print 6"x11" postcards with some protective coating on it?

From what I know, most digital printers can't do that. Digital printing requires heat that may damage the coating. If you want, you can just buy ready to use papers with coating from the store and print them using your digital printer. But the other way to go about is to print postcards from a reliable printing company like PritnRunner. They do postcards using matte aqueous coating that protects your print from smudges and fingerprints. Here's their site: http://www.printrunner.com/postcard-printing.html

My printer won't work. It keeps on rejecting the papers. I'm a bit tired of fixing it all the time so I'm considering to just ask some companies for their postcard printing services. Do yo

Yes, I think that's a better idea.. depending on how many you need, because the cost of your ink in your printer, may be alot more than actually getting them printed professionally by a printing company.
It would all depend on how many you need.

4x6 glossy postcards feed through slipping

Make sure that the paper meets the specifications for use in your printer.

The paper you are trying to use may be to heavy to be moved correctly through the paper path.

Ink from my deskjet 5650 smears off my glossy postcards.

Hello there jbaerpynes.

You must use HP branded glossy paper in this particular printer as recommended by the manufacturer. Because HP ink is much finer than most other inkjet printers, the ink sometimes does not set in properly on generic papers, especially glossy ones, and can smear right off.

Try new paper and get back to me. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to comment on my post. If I helped you, please give me a positive rating.

Thanks.

Printing postcards

Hi, You can print postcards in either the manual tray (1) or Tray 2 . But if you have a tray three installed you cannot print postcards, envelopes, etc... I recommend printing them from the manual tray and what you can do is either in your printer setting on your pc adjust which trays you want to use for printingpostcards. Or you can use the printers menu and go to paper handling and manual select which paper sizes you wish to use in each tray.
